I just returned Inland Empire half unwatched.

Mr. Lynch has been my favorite for many many moons, but with this last one he really made me feel as if I was humoring him.

I get it.

I get what's happening and yet somehow I felt like it was just too much and not enough at the same time.

Lynch's brilliancy has always been combining "weird" with "normal". the normals would follow along with the story, while the weird agents created it. I'm not saying normals were always "good" people, they just weren't from another dimension.

there were no normals in this movie.

everybody was a weird agent.

with all the loonies loose on stage, the movie lost it's grounding.

I would have lasted if it hadn't been three hours long. after the first hour and a half, I just really didn't have time for it.

(I know, I should have started watching it before 9:00. I really should have listened to mother).

ha ha ha ha. don't say i didn't warn you. i think the term i used was wankery. but of course everybody has to find out for themselves & make lynch a little bit richer.

he's earned that, i suppose.

anyway, i watched EL TOPO again & was listening to the commentary track. superb.

also, this is not a movie, but i just rented disk 1 of samurai champloo

^^ ha ha ha-- those are bombs

fun stuff! im ordering the rest of them soon.

god I fucking love that show!

and yeah, you were right about Inland Empire I'm sorry to say. :(

last night I watched Pan's Labyrinth.

despite my friend's warning of "have fun reading yr movie" (after which I argued that he's an idiot), I thought it was one of the better films that I've seen in a long time.

Everyneurotic 09.01.2007 12:52 PM

i didn't see the whole thing, but samurai champloo is pretty good.

but cartoon network are too busy shoving ben 10 to show good anime or foster's home for imaginary friends, for that matter.

floatingslowly 09.01.2007 12:57 PM

I've been watching Blood on [adult swim] lately. it's no samurai champloo (which I'm going to add to netflix), but it's "ok".

cartoon network is shit until about 10:30pm.

PS: tonite I'm watching 300. hahahahahaaha

Everyneurotic 09.01.2007 01:04 PM

ahh blood+, good one.

there's an all anime channel here in mexico, some good shows (blood+, full metal alchemist, steel angel kurumi) but everytime i flip the channel to it, they're showing some shitass sports anime like the prince of tennis.

LittlePuppetBoy 09.01.2007 03:31 PM

Paprika.

I loved it.

Nick Park's stop motion animations are always fun. :)

I've been watching season 1 of Rescue Me. A little too homophobic and stereotyped, if you ask me.
Don't know what to think of it just yet.

'Danny Deckchair'. Wasn't great, wasn't awful. Really only watched it because I like Rhys Ifans.

Think I'm going to watch 'King of Hearts' ('Le Roi de Cœur') next. (When I feel like it.. maybe later.. not at the moment.)

Disturbia - Watched it lastnight. Liked it. Had that nice teenage romance that I dig. Plus Sarah roemer is a complete fox.

Watched Shooter yesterday, liked that too.

Watched Fargo the other day. Was cool.

Watching Invincables today.

All Hollywood films, but I like that.
