I couldn't find enough time/be bothered to do mine. Is this like on a deadline?

That's a nice idea, actually, we could set up a simple blogspot page and host the files somewhere to be ready to download without using badongo and stuff like that... How big are the files danny? All mp3s or there are also wav files?

max 06.06.2007 08:38 AM

Yeah I'm so totally confident Nic haahhah... naah, it's just that there's other SY tribute compilations floating around the net, and it would be cool to have our own out there!

If you ask me, everyone should send the file in .wav quality so that if someone wanna get it on cd, we could just do it. But also to have every song on 128 / 192 kbps to put on the site would be great...

Was even the idea of a cd with cover art and stuff considered?

nicfit 06.06.2007 09:03 AM

I say, please, mp3s only at 192kbps or better...128 is really too low in my opinion, higher frequencies are so crashed it hurts...dunno.
Hm, I think I'm one of the "eligible" "cover art and stuff" guys.

For the last time,

THERE IS NO DEADLINE.

..yet.

Also;

So far, most of the contributions have been in mp3 format, but in good quality. There has been a couple of wavs I think. There is one track in particular I may need to reject because the recording seems to be.. well I won't give the secret away..

A blogspot page would be very nice, if someone could host the recordings. The files aren't too big, around 3.5MB each... except the wav file which is 60MB.

So are you sure about that?

Danny Himself 06.06.2007 12:48 PM

Of course not. But until I announce one, I want people to stop asking me. This thing will go on for as long as it takes.

I think each volume of the project will be 40 minutes long. In which case, we are almost finished with volume one. Then the submissions after that will be in volume two. And so on.

max 06.06.2007 12:56 PM

I did guitars, vocals and drums for SCREAMING SKULL. I think Chout is a bit busy right now but he hopefully will be in. I think hosting the mp3s won't be a problem, we could have them available in one site and put all the wave files (for those who'd like to have a cd quality thingie) in a sharing site like yousendit or such.

I wanna see Nic doing art! And also, I was wondering if we could ask the sonics themselves, via Mr Habib or Lawrence, if hosting of the mp3s would be possible on the official site...

Danny Himself 06.06.2007 12:58 PM

That would be very nice to have it all hosted here, if the project gets big enough.

max 06.06.2007 01:02 PM

yeah. hey I'm very glad of what I'm coming up with, soundwise! I hope Chout can tune in ASAP!

Danny Himself 06.06.2007 01:09 PM

Hooray!

http://sonicyouthgossiptribute.blogspot.com/

And I created the blogspot account, where Vol. 1 will be posted. Nic, you should get started on the artwork!

nicfit 06.06.2007 01:51 PM

Hey, actually I thought that I should start after listening to the "mood" of the tracks, but I'll put together some ideas in the meantime. Cd-sized art, right?
Ps good call on that simple template for the blog danny! Did you use your personal email or one made "on purpose" for that? If you could add my gmail id as a contributor I could work on some simple graphic for the blogspot thing too. see you on msn for details, in case.
And what about giving the project a "more appealing" name? Dunno, Gossip Sessions or something.

Danny Himself 06.06.2007 05:39 PM

I thought it was best not to go overboard.

I used my personal gmail account. We'll chat on msn about it later.

Do you need someone to play bass on this?
Or anyone who wants to do something ANYTHING. I can play guitar/bass/sing

Danny Himself 06.06.2007 06:33 PM

Are you up for a new wave keyboard cover of 'Sweet Shine', Joel?

You can sing and add bass, I'll lay down drums and keyboards.

finding nobody 06.06.2007 10:49 PM

That sounds cool dude. I'll work on that!

Danny Himself 06.07.2007 06:09 AM

Cool!

I'll get to work on the drums and keyboards tonight, and I'll send it to you for you to add your brilliance over it.

finding nobody 06.07.2007 06:21 AM

Yes. Drums are good to do first (I've leanred)

Danny Himself 06.07.2007 06:22 AM

Hah yeah, I learned that pretty quickly too.

Well, I'm off to record. LATAZ.

EDIT:

Okay, done. I'm not really sure if it sounds okay. It certainly doesn't sound very 'new wave', 'cause Danny ain't good with no synths. I think I fucked up the drums. You be the judge Joel, I'll pm it to you.

max 06.08.2007 01:40 AM

Hey, Chout mailed me, he'll handle his duties in the weekend! Sorry Joel man, we were already set up to do this together... maybe sometimes next, we'll do a trio thing, you me and Chout?
