Grinderman in The Wire, March 2007

It's a fairly good article. Lots of emphasis on the fact that Grinderman is a group with four people in it, not Nick Cave and three others.

Do Warren and Jim have aspirations to be Greek Orthodox priests?

Fuck, I really really need the money to get a subscription to that magazine.

I wasn't terribly impressed with that article, to be honest. It came across as a wee bit fawning... I like the Wire for its irrationality, its inconsistencies, but sometimes their desire to keep pushing a person's 'avant stripes' annoys me. There's nothing particularly 'trangressive' about Grinderman, nor has there been with Cave for nearly 20 years - doesn't stop him being good, does mean the journalism (often top-notch) seems to fall into NME-esque pits of fallacious rhetoric.

I have to wait a month before that one's even on the shelves here. It sucks :(

Wire is a great magazine. The Wire Tapper CDs that come with the subscription are worth the sub on their own.

I don't know why anyone would come to the conclusion it's 'Nick Cave and three others' given that Warren Ellis actually wrote all the music, did the loops and sent them over to Nick to put lyrics/vocals to?

I'll read the article later.
