Intriguing, thanks - I'll look into that. I prefer Branca by some distance mind.

greenlight 04.24.2007 06:33 PM

hmm, looking forward to hear that.

that was an incredible set even if we were all scrunched uncomfortably on the cement floor so Rhys could see the other musicians across the room...even still my tape came out well its been one of my recent faves to play loud on a Sat afternoon with a shimmery fog come in their well mic'd vers should slay.

Would you like an excerpt to listen to?

A good rendition at the Rhys Chatham Essentialist myspace too.

Eric Block and I have finished the mix of the G3 "Guitar Trio Is My Life" USA tour, at last! Soon it will be off to the mastering house and out on the Table of the Elements Records on 3 seperate CDs.

purplebumblebee 07.05.2007 06:31 PM

that was the Essentialist project I think, it sounded good to me, heavy instumental crunch metal with Rhys' shimmerign guitar around it.

I'm curious what warrants 3 separate Cds.

EXCITED

well i played in the G3 performance in Buffalo and at that time Rhys discussed with us the possibility that a portion of each performance from the 12 city tour would be released as a multi-cd set on table of the elements (each show was professionally recorded), but i haven't heard from him as of late in regards to the recording release and what the intentions are. so i do not know what exactly is being done. though my last email from Rhys did have him stating that part of the Buffalo show was to be released (what probably helps is that the ensemble included the infamous Tony Conrad a long-time friend and co-labelmate on the elements) i'm guessing that if it is indeed a 3-cd set it is not just the Brooklyn set, each show as far as i know was not really much longer than two 20-minute sets.

part one coming on September 11, 2007

Moshe 07.25.2007 08:21 AM

SY members will be on 2 out of the 3 CDs. First one might come out later then September.

sonicl 07.25.2007 08:22 AM

And SY Gossip members on at least one of them!

Moshe 07.25.2007 08:29 AM

well, lee is free and femprist are definitely in. we will have to wait and see what about scott v. :)

sonicl 07.25.2007 08:39 AM

Assuming that the boardmember "kim" (who has never posted) is Kim, she's on it too, I think. If you look on the youtube footage that features leeisfree and fempriest, she's there too.

The 3 cds are being pushed back to March 4th 2008.
