they are watching your devices in realtime

As I made my own way to the tram, I wrote in my Apple Notes app, "Helicopter hovering overhead," which to me signified that the fans were being watched over. Then two policemen stopped me and asked me who I was with and whether I'd written anything about a helicopter into my phone, without explaining the technology of how they'd read my Notes app. After a friendly back-and-forth, they looked through my bag, checked my ID and business card and determined I wasn't a threat. "You have to understand, tensions are running high," one of the men said with a smile and a handshake, allowing me through the gate. Manchester was secure tonight.

{edit}-or a clever psy-op to see who is paying attention.

all apple and "Droid" devices are tied in to the security grids and can be used to overhear, record, or catch video at any time by any govt agent that feels like it. The two big producers, Apple and Samsung, forced blackberry to go under because blackberry was the only highly secure phone available with proper encryption which would not allow any government to use the phone as a spy mechanism or to read your emails. That is why Obama used one for so long, until Blackberry was forced to sell off their server farms in Canada. Read about it. we are all surveilled now. Surveillance state is nearly 100%

my devices? Then they'll know all about my pulse and blood pressure! Oh, NOOO!

being a nonuser I have no idea how the Apple Notes app works but I could guess it runs in part remotely and the state has access - through a stingray-type device, maybe.

I find the license plate tracking insidious. With Lord Cuomo implementing cashless tolls in NY State, he's insuring the State owns a permanent record of our movements Forever. As well as data that can be sold to marketers or other interested parties, or stolen and used against you.

Lord Cuomo is actually enforcing a second toll in order to travel here in NY State on top of the cash toll, a ghoulish devilish toll, this data harvest, like shanghai'ed organ removals, this permanent unrequested, unwanted, totalitarian data record.

They could have used the same tech I use to read the paper of the guy sat next to me on the bus.

I wanna be surveilled! I WANNA! But I don't have a smartphone nor a smart TV nor Kellyanne's microwave oven. What can I do?

Copying this from a comments section on another, typically reliable site - many of you have made it perfectly clear you are a pod and like it that way, so this isn't intended for the pod people who post to this board.

I'm sure employers, insurers, law enforcement etc. can find even hidden profiles with nicknames only and use algorithms to be pretty sure it's you. Indeed, I personally saw corporate security for a Fortune 500 company you've heard of use some sort of password they had to gain access to someone's supposedly private Facebook page, to see that the individual had posted unauthorized photos of the setup of a private corporate event, naming the event and even showing a corporate logo. The individual was physically escorted off the premises immediately. The profile was set to only be visible to "friends," but they got right in. Clearly, Facebook sells master-key passwords.

An increasing number of Android applications are attempting to track users without their knowledge, according to a new report.
Over recent years, companies have started hiding “beacons”, ultrasonic audio signals inaudible to humans, in their adverts, in order to track devices and learn more about their owners.
Electronic devices equipped with microphones can register these sounds, allowing advertisers to uncover their location and work out what kind of ads their owners watch on TV and which other devices they own.
The technique can even be used to de-anonymise Tor users.

As described in Stephen Hunter's latest thriller G-Man, the Stingray device is a Gen 7 femtocell and uses NSA intercept software to not only listen to your encrypted conversations but can target a specific phone and listen through the mic. I think the Marshall's use these to try and see if their target is awake or not when making an arrest.

...and Bytor, basic tradecraft is that the battery has to be removed from the tracking device/phone in order for it to be deactivated not just turned off.

This works pretty well as an early 21st century poem, I gotta say...
