Opening for fuckin' GOBLIN in a few weeks. Could not be more excited. |
^^^ What a show - congrats on the opening act!
Speaking of, how far off is the new TP release? ......look who is coming to Houston :D |
Swans new incarnation is so incredible live. These last couple of years have blown my mind.
New TP in mixing right now! I will be uploading a 15 minute instrumental to the web within the week, though there are plenty of "songs" in the new batch as well. |

I think I posted about it somewhere else...but I forget. Anyways....we got there kind of late(my friend's friend was meetin' up with us) so I only got to listen to like 5 minutes of novellers set...it was nice...but yeah pretty angry aboot that. St Vincent. SHe was great. I'm only familiar with some of her material, but my friend insisted so I went. Yeah....her voice is amazing.....her recordings seriously don't do it justice. I was blown away by her voice. She's just a great performer, she had a little choreography for some of her songs and it made it fun, she shredded on her guitar, and just played some great fuckin' tunes. I really enjoyed myself. |
Just got tix for Earth in two weeks. Only problem is they are opening for Deafheaven. Should be vice versa in my mind.
|
this friday: 65daysofstatic with Thought Forms as support
in two weeks: Gruppo Di Pawlowski with The Ex as support and probably some collaborations too (Pawlowski is in dEUS, his Gruppo sounds more like Grinderman though) and some maybe's in between like Lubomyr Melnyk and Public Service Broadcasting in May: 2 x dEUS and the next day: Cat Powerrrrrr and also Lee Ranaldo in June: probably Slint maybe Man Or Astroman Psych Lab Festival in my hometown including Disappears and Mick Harvey playing Gainsbourg tunes |
contemplating heading down to tasmania to see sunn and earth with sin nanna's veil of darkness play at dark mofo although the cost is astronomical in this buttfuck country. that said the overall program is stacked: total control, htrk, lace curtain, marco fusinato, nun.... decisions, decisions
|
just got tickets for melt-banana in april and dum dum girls (vorhees is support <3) in may

Action Bronson at Houston Beer Fest.
Two of my favorite things in the world will converge in a glorious sea of stoned inebriation |
Would love to be at Austin Psych Fest, but I just couldn't swing getting off next weekend.
However, I'm headed to Houston in a few hours to see Mogwai later tonight :D Quote:

Loop tomorrow! 27 year wait!

ENJOY - they too are playing Austin Psych Fest next weekend. EDIT: it would be Super Cool if Thunderbolt Pagoda ended up playing Psych Fest next year......just sayin! |
Would love to. roadburn even more. Less tambourine bands at roadburn, but also less Bytors.

I never even heard of roadburn......looks like one hell of a festival! Quote:
I ended up NOT GOING last night. Waiting for my daughter to get out of school when I received a Mogwai tweet saying only a few tickets were left. I jumped online to purchase one and saw where they were $23 plus the service charge. Instead, for $10, I will be at the same venue this Thursday night to catch, Acid Mothers Temple, Pink Mountain Tops and Perhaps ......all of which are playing Psych Fest next weekend. Also at the same venue (downstairs), The Dandy Warhols and Young Girls (also playing Psych Fest). |

Circuit Des Yeux this month.
|
She was painful when I saw her.
|
When was that? I saw her when she played her first gig with Pink Reason over here and enjoyed her much more than Kevin De Broux's set. I'm probably going to Loop/Godflesh at Heaven too.
|
It was late 2012. To be fair I think I was in the minority in my assessment.
Loop is better than I thought they would possibly be as a live band. So nice to see Robert rock out like that after so many years deep in non-rock minimalism. I have never seen a group lay sonic waste to a room while looking so relaxed and detached from the maelstrom. Amazing. |
She's an interesting cat in that she started recording her music in such a primitive way at the height of the most abrasive forms of rock we had heard in a while (post-2006 artists, mostly from the States to begin with) and through such crude overdubs on her home hi-fi. She's now a fully trained music engineer with more ambitious ways to channel her talent. I can get behind that sort of thing. Robert Hampson is a great guy and I look forward to saying hello if I end up going to the gig. He was more active on FB a while ago but I understand he had to deal with a really nasty piece of work stalking him on the website and I imagine he's enjoying himself now and he's too busy.
|
I do enjoy it when Clone shares his concert reviews and opinions!
And I do wish I could attend your performance this Thursday night......however, seeing Acid Mothers Temple isn't a bad alternative :D Quote:
Edit: seeing signs of a show taking place in Houston that I long ago gave up hope of ever seeing......and I'm not even sure if it can be considered the same as the names the same, but the players have changed??? Once I confirm the date and venue, I will share who it is. |
anyone living close to New York and nothing special in your agenda on May 16? This will be a good one to visit, and that for only $10 !!
