Post-Punk Bands of The 00's

I feel like I'm not hearing enough modern post-punk guitar bands (for lack of a better phrase). I've been listening to a lot of A Frames lately and want more. What are some standout bands this decade?

kierkegaarden 09.28.2009 10:39 PM

Interpol.

lol

Fuck Punk, it's all about noise. Am I doing it right swa(y)?

Decayed Rhapsody 09.28.2009 10:47 PM

You're right dude, it's totally time for progression in music, I'm gonna smash all my guitars and only listen to Animal Collective.

animal collective fans don't strike me as the sort to promote guitar violence.

pbradley 09.28.2009 10:53 PM

Play music with soul or play no music at all.

Seandi 09.28.2009 11:08 PM

Poster Children. they owe me money. I know that was last decade, but they still owe me money. This decade check out Call Me Lightening.

Decayed Rhapsody 09.28.2009 11:09 PM

I was gonna put "guitar bands of the 00's" but that's just stupid. Thanks for the rec's so far.

A-Frames rule! Never considered them "post-punk", though.

Post punk is most of the stuff on Dischord, most of the stuff on No Idea Records...

Lots of good sorta-post/sorta-garage rock stuff out there, like Hot Snakes, Beehive and the Barracudas, maybe even Coachwhips (who are noise rock/garage rock but kinda fall into post-punk in a way). I dunno.

when i think of post punk most of the bands that spring to mind were on rough trade in the late 70's/early 80's, groups such as scritti polliti, the fall, kleenex, essential logic, the pop group, subway sect etc.

batreleaser 09.29.2009 11:24 AM

The stuff that came out after punk shot up it's ass and imploded.

atsonicpark 09.29.2009 01:21 PM

See, I dunno if I'd consider Cheveu or Blank Dogs "post punk" (definitely wouldn't consider HOME BLITZ post..), but yeah check them out!

Genteel Death 09.29.2009 01:24 PM

Blank Dogs is cleaning his (Mike Sniper's) act with all the more recent stuff. The earlier releases were more Chrome-like.
