Yeah. When the night people work they play decent music. It was during the day and the manager listens to some 'smooth jazz' station. |

Does anyone have an original copy of this?.....it fucking rules. What's up with the first few tracks with the flute and stuff? That's some great milk right there. I've had the live version of Kometenmelodie that's on here for awhile now, but everything else is pretty much a first time listen for me. Tone Float Milk Rock Siver Forest Rhythm Salad Noitasinwaqargo Kometenmelodie (Live USA 1974) Ananas Symphonie (Live USA 1974) Tanzmusik (Live USA 1974) Kohoutek (First Single A-Side 1974) Kometenmelodie (Single A-Side 1974) Autobahn (Single Version 1975) http://www.thefirstcut.net/k/krafru.htm Ok, it looks like those tracks are from Organisation....I get it now. Either way it still rules. |
L.A. Woman - The Doors
For me, albums are 90 percent cover art and 10 percent music. But I love this album in spite of the goofy transparency high-contrast photo of The Doors at the height of their hippy look, and inspite of the pretentious artsy crucifix thing on the inner sleeve. At the same time, maybe I love the album because of this hokeyness, because you can love The Doors truly if you appreciate their hokeyness which they enjoyed brazenly. Spin this and you'll get all the hokey rock you could want. For example, spin this on a rainy day and you'll think killer minds in the desert heading for the city of angels, desperados in torn jeans and dirty T-shirts shuffling in the dust to the next broken-down motel. Very rootsy. Very bluesy. And very funny, too. Ridiculously funny. What's the obsession with snakes all over the place? And what does that line about throwing away the jack of hearts mean? And all the talk about being on the road and just getting into town? Ridiculously cliched. Ridiculously trippy--"L'Hyancith House," for example. And the band, wow, just sounds so good, like your eardrums popping open after a few hits of antihistamin on a rainy day. I love the winding serpent guitar of "The Changeling," the jangle of "Love Her Madly," the drone of "Cars Hiss by My Window," the getaway zoom of "L.A. Woman," which sounds soooo 1960s-70s Stones rockandroll that it just has to be a parody of 1960s-70s rock. And the psychedlic road saga of "Riders on the Storm," both beautiful and creepy, a ragged daydream of a song. But it's also one of the most well-done long songs I've heard any band do, ever. I love this album not in spite of its ridiculousness but because of it. It's hard to take Jim Morrison very seriously--I mean, just listen to those pretentious, indulgent lyrics. Captain Beefheart does him just a notch better in the absurd wordplay department, but it's a small notch. I wonder what Morrison and Beefheart could have made if they'd gotten togehter!! But I get the feeling Morrison didn't want to be taken very seriously. Oh, quite the opposite. And that's what makes this album so hard to truly appreciate, but it's sort of like Dylan--you might not get it right away, and it may come across as just a bluesy bit of over-radio-played classic rock. But when you get it and it sinks in, you're hooked. |
I can't think of anyone with a worse sense of humor than Jim Morrison.

Exactly.

Adventure - Television
If the first album is the cat's pajamas, this is the cat's terry cloth robe. If the first album is an A+, this is an A-. If the first album was the greatest 70s-era punk album since sliced bread to float up out of the CBGB scene, this is the greatest 70s-era punk album since homogenized milk to float up out of the CBGB scene. If you bought the first album, you should not not-buy the second album. If you like the first album, you will not not-like this album. Besides, you're just not cool if all you've ever heard by Television or Verlaine is Marquee Moon. Everybody's heard Marquee Moon. Only the cool punk rock people also have heard Adventure. The conventional wisdom on this one is that there are no "Wow!" songs like the first album's "See No Evil" or "Torn Curtain." I couldn't disagree more. Every one of them knocks me out, from the opening "Glory" through the final cut. They're a bit more restrained, more tightly constructed, but that just means the unleashed guitar solos seem to rage all the brighter. The songs are all tough muscle, no fat; Television takes a post-punk clue from the punk masters of concision growing up around them. "Foxhole" reminds me of something the Stones might have done in their Mick Taylor-era heyday--only it's far leaner, and far meaner, than any product the Stones ever manufactured. The whole album sounds real, and without a doubt, it stands, along with its predecessor, as one of the finest things to emerge from New York City's post-punk furnace. |
Also recently been spinning:
S.F. Sorrow by The Pretty Things & the new Yo La Tengo & Countdown to Ecstasy by Steely Dan All on pretty wax, my friends... |

Its more about seeing more quality EPL games. They've had either Reading or Watford nearly every week so far. I'd settle for Fulham week after week! er... |
I'm a Manchester City fan, myself.
Now that the football's over, I'm doing a bit of a shortwave scan. As ever, CRI are omnipresent. |
I support Fulham. Its hard to follow a team you can't watch week in and week out though. I'm sure you can understand this with your Rams. The Rams are on TV EVERY Sunday here because of my location to St. Louis.
I've just got this: |
the edit of it i made. |

That looks pretty cool. You can't go wrong with a hooded top. Fulham are OK, but I can't stand their owner, Mohammed Fayed. Good squad though. YEah, I don't really get to see much Rams, but I do check out the 2-minute compilations that the NFL site puts up each week. I appreciate those clips. |

Certainly my favourite Sonic Youth cover art, and one of my favourite pieces of cover art ever. I've still got the t-shirt of that. |
There are few owners of any sports franchises I can tolerate.

it is neat art. i don't have the shirt though, i have the confusion one and the expwy one (which are both getting pretty worn out considering their age) and the 100% dirty one.

I'm listening to DragonForce. Yeah!
