This looks so great.

this I am excited about.

seems like a good story although the songs don't sound particular "punk" or even that great from the trailer. it gets annoying that "punk" before punk even started narrative. this wasn't before mc5, vu, stooges, the new york dolls, and the monks. i guess the thing thats remarkable is that their name was death and they were black guys playing rock n roll right?

**edit: i didn't mean to sound so douchee, i should listen to the songs properly before commenting, im hungover**

True...but 1971 means they were before the ramones and another band that seemed to possibly have taken some strong notes from 'em, Bad Brains.

What does punk rock really sound like anyway? Black flag don't sound like the ramones don't sound like the pistols etc.

repped.

They played loud and aggressive, and yes certainly the fact they were african-american is a big detail considering the white U.K. punk acts said their music was influenced by reggae, but the fact there was a rock band of african- americans playing loud, aggressive rock rather then more laid back rhythmic reggae is noteworthy.

So I heard some songs on youtube and yeah there stuff is pretty good. It really doesn't matter what semi-catagory of rock you want to call this, some stuff has a The Who quality to it, some stuff even makes me think of Dead Kennedys, its hard rock/heavy metal/glam/punk who really gives a shit.

I was not suggesting that all or even the majority of black bands played reggae, I was mentioning reggae as an influence on early punk bands, certainly on the artists that got the media notoriety, no I'm not JUST talking about The Clash, they are just the most obvious example.

I couldn't care less about their race, colour or creed. My vinyl copy is on the shelf.

Death were and still are a great band, period.

Yeah I know, it's unfortunate.

Ska sucks too.

Mortte Jousimo 05.22.2013 03:28 AM

Sounds great! I think they´re kind of predecessors of Bad Brains.
