naissse.

haha psychic hats, yeah right.

GrungeMonkey 05.16.2007 02:16 PM

That was cool. Interviews are better when interviewers don't pretend to know everything about an artist.

racehorse 05.17.2007 01:58 PM

yeah, nice interview.
"punk is soul power vision rock"
pahaha

greenlight 05.17.2007 02:15 PM

thank yo!

val-holla-ing 05.17.2007 07:04 PM

vincent gallo? really now?

whorefrost 05.17.2007 07:33 PM

oh, that was just some typical Thuston sassy bullshit (about Gallo)

Didn't know Thurston thought so highly of the Donnas. Kind of weird, though I like them o.k. He likes a lot of brilliant stuff, but then it seems sometimes like the straight ahead rock he's into can be pretty mediocre (Cell anyone?)

Everyneurotic 05.18.2007 12:34 AM

anyone else got annoyed by this girl trying to say "omg i love this and this and this and it's so cool and i love it and it's amazing and that and this" that being a question?

the donnas...i love "rock n' roll machine" and a lot of their earlier songs and a few from their first major label album, then they became boring and awful.

Kind of, but those were the "questions" Thurston seemed most into answering, as opposed to "Explain the history of your band and list any side projects" and that sort of thing. I thought it was amusing he actually suggested she check out some Sonic Youth websites for the answers rather than type it for the ten millionth time.

He's incredibly gracious when answering questions from people who aren't ultra-hip or even that knowledgable. At least she didn't ask the questions from the end of "Or"...

dionysusundone 05.18.2007 02:01 AM

Right on for the Heart Attack reference.

racehorse 05.18.2007 02:14 AM

he's a curious one. magik markers, wolf eyes, charalambides, double leopards, nautical almanac and the donnas.......................

Cell were just atrocious, no wonder hardly anyone remembers them.

I think she's just given a straight transcript of her email conversation with T, and she probably felt the need to give her questions a bit of context when she was asking them. That seems far more polite to me than just question... question... question...

Plus, it seems like she was fairly excited to be interviewing T, as most of us would be, and that's why her questions are as they are.

I know you wouldn't ask questions like that, but that's because you're comfortable chatting with T these days, what with him hanging backstage at you gigs and all that...

Yes, and yet the atrocity was that they were such a boring do nothing rock band, embraced by Sonic Youth. The only thing I can figure is somebody in the band must have had a really great weed connection.

I can imagine Thurston would be a dream to interview. He always comes across as very laid back and even answers questions hes obviously heard a million times before politely. Rock on Thurston!

Everyneurotic 05.18.2007 03:25 PM

well, a bit of context is ok, not "the day i went to wash my dog and "kool thing" was playing on my stereo was the MOST AWESOME MOMENT i have ever lived and that's why you're so cool and awesome and amazing and i just wanted to tell you this because you are so awesome and well...can you tell us some about the song?"

giving some context is one thing, requesting an interview just to have him read a fan letter is another.

i actually enjoyed the even worse/heart attacks questions and answers...i sure wanted to know about it.
