Your Favourite SY LP of the 1990's?

There's too many to do a completee SY list on the polls, so I'm going to do the 1990's.

Someone else can do the eighties, if they so wish. The 00's might be best laft, as there's a new one out soon.

I've included the Made in USA LP and SYR4. Because I felt like it.Um, that's it.

Tell us your choice, too, and why. If you want to.

Aaah, this was hard. I went with Dirty, just because of Wish Fulfillment and the last five songs.

AllHandsOnTheBigOne 03.25.2006 01:07 PM

1.Washing Machine
2.Dirty
3.EJST&NS
4.A Thousand Leaves
5.Goo
6.SYR4

I haven't heard Made in USA, so I can't rank it.

Everyneurotic 03.25.2006 01:09 PM

syr4 bitch!!!

even though i was just remembering how amazing dirty is

and also, a thousand leaves is a sprawling masterpiece

i have to add that i don't own the rest of the albums listed here so i don't have a well formed opinion on them, it's not that i don't like them, it's that i don't know them well yet

That could be a very good point, yes. I was using this site's discography, and disallowed 'Screaming Fields...' on the basis that is was a compilation of 80's stuff that was just being re-released.

As far as I am aware, although it's mid-80's in composition, the 90's release was the first.

Hope I was right.

Mille-feuilles :D

I like the others too, but he got something magic, and Hoarfrost is...

Does that really make it a '90s LP'?

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 03.25.2006 02:35 PM

I voted dirty because its the first SY cd I got. I like washing machine just as much.

It does according to the official discograpy.

Is SYR6 one of the best releases of, 2005? You could hardly call it one of the best releases of 2003, when it was recorded. Because it wasn't released then.

I go for the magic phasing sonorities of ATL.

Well, it was a the soundtrack for a film, correct? The soundtrack may have not been released on it's own, but if the music was composed in the mid-80s, the music was heard in the mid-80s, and it was released on the film in the mid-80s, to me it's totally an 80s work.

AllMusicGuide lists it in their discography as an '86 LP.

But of course, this doesn't really matter. It's obviously not going to win.

Once one has become accustomed to noise rock, I don't know how one can top Washing Machine.

I heard that the music does not play a lot in the movie...

And, a Made in USA soundtrack was released in 1986, but with only like, 1 Sonic Youth track or something like that... But the Made in USA was released in 1995, I think
