fugazifan 05.20.2008 03:25 PM

Danny Himself 05.20.2008 03:26 PM

It's really one of those other-worldly-sounding instruments. I'd say go for it.. though you can get key instruments that sound pretty much exactly like them.

copper 05.20.2008 03:28 PM

^ fuck key saw's i mean, i was just thinking about this the other day, there's no way youre going to get that sustain or that wiggly sound with keys.

fugazifan, yeah it does, i guess i just need to get a saw.

sam moore? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Moore this is the only thing i google coughs up but it doesnt seem to be of any relevance?

Highly recommended Mpls accordion/singing saw duo. Andy REALLY knows how to make the saw sing.

Danny Himself 05.20.2008 03:39 PM

I was thinking of electro-theremins. They sound way better.

have you considered playing muscle synth instead?

you could become a pioneer of the wank music genre

Glice 05.20.2008 03:52 PM

Musical saw is in the same box as theramin for me: no matter how many times I see someone doing something amazing on it, I will always think anyone playing one is a wanker. With the exception of anyone I know personally who plays either that might happen to be reading this.

Savage Clone 05.20.2008 03:58 PM

I guarantee that if you saw a Dreamland Faces show you would change your mind.
GUARANTEE.

Did you steal Jon Spencer's theremin?

hmm he can sure play that saw but i dislike the fact that he's using it only for sound effects.

What are you talking about? It's a duo, and the saw is the freaking lead melodic instrument. He hits notes dead on all night long.

For the duration of the show, I expect so. I've seen some amazing shows on theramin and saw, I just always think, no matter how nice the person playing, that they are instruments for wankers. I mean, bagpipes are awesome intruments, and I've never failed to enjoy someone playing the bagpipes, but anyone not over 50 and Scottish playing them just looks like a wanker. Do you see?

Savage Clone 05.20.2008 04:31 PM

Oh, yes. I see now.
Like bow ties.
They can be pulled off,but generally they are the territory of dorks and/or assholes.

Precisely right. What's important to remember is that I'm not talking about the same thing as comedy ska-punk - even if I saw the very best comedy ska-punk band, it'd still be shit, because it's simply shit. You see?

It may interest you to know that, like every great contrary cunt, I can play a few tunes on it (although it's more of the frere jacque side of things).
