Non-Stooges fans need not check this thread.

Won't be, erm, quite as updated as that last epic Stooges thread I started, but....

Here's some news I figured a few of you might enjoy:

Iggy's clothing line, NEW STOOGES RECORD, Kill City re-release ('bout fuckin' time),etc....

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/17386/186756

Really excited to hear new/reworked versions of some of that old/bootlegged material.

demonrail666 07.31.2010 10:40 AM

The clothing line just seems massively wrong. I can pick up a Raw Power T Shirt in Camden for a tenner. Clearly aiming things at the fashionistas. I'm definitely up for the Kill City re-release though. The idea of his next solo album possibly being based on 'Democracy in America' also sounds interesting.

now, if only he'd commission a muscle car ...

I'm not sure how he even feels about muscle cars (imagine that...). I knw he owns a rolls royce, and a ferrari if I'm not mistaken....the later being fast, but damned sure not a plymouth roadrunner (in the classic muscle sense)....

as far as the clothing line...I can take it or leave it. Kim G's had hers....If I was rich, i'd damned sure design my own clothes, if only for myself.

Even rich people feel some odd need to make even more money...haha.

The Joker designed his own clothes in the Dark Knight. Doesn't Iggy spend the majority of his shows with as little clothing on as possible? Now he'll have to go out of character and stay dressed during his shows.

The Roadrunners were a very popular muscle car back in the early seventies trip carb Hemi with a 383 block, a set of Hooker headers with a glass pack muffler rev the motor 7000 rpms and drop that clutch and leave 100 foot patch of rubber on the road. Ah yes good ole summer nights. Where I live in Worcester two blocks from my house we had the most popular 1/4 mile of road for street racing in Worcester. The 428 Chevies and 429 Fords where the bosses of the quarter mile back then. At least if were talking stock engines.

Do you write lyrics for Bruce Springsteen, by any chance?

GeneticKiss 07.31.2010 12:32 PM

Honestly, I don't see how anyone on a noise punk rock band forum could not at least like Stooges, if not necessarily love them...

@ chicka: I haven't seen very many photos of Iggy where he's got a shirt on, or if he does, doesn't have it open to bare his chest. I don't blame him; I'd love to have a rail-thin yet somehow ripped body like him...

I hear you somewhere around the age of 25 I developed a beer belly that I can't get rid of. If I do loose weight first it's my arms then my legs then my ass then my face and then maybe a dent in ole beer belly

So what's this about a Kill City reissue? It's pretty readily available on vinyl at my local store so it's not hard to find as far as I know. Is there gonna be bonus stuff?

it's going to be remastered, a good thing...being that they never really "completed" it the first time. Great album, but def. a little rough around the edges. Theres a sample somewhere of the "new" finished result, and it sounds fantastic. James W. w/ some help from some other guy if I remember correctly.

I suspect there may be some bonus material...we'll def. see here soon.

<3 thrown at james w. ++++ james m.!!!!

I did. I like the Stooges. I just don't care about Iggy's arts n crafts.

ann ashtray 08.10.2010 07:19 AM

I really don't either..but, the link had info on it. Some are interested in that sort of thing, and I'm ok with that.

Iggy stops being cool and just starts being plain gross around 1988 here.

Also that 1996 picture seems to refute the story about how Iggy got out of drafted military duty.

The Soup Nazi 09.01.2010 02:31 PM

When the Bowie mix of Raw Power was reissued this year I updated my diverse Iggy & The Stooges so-so vinyls and CD-Rs by ordering that one plus Open Up & Bleed and Wild Love from Bomp! I didn't have enough cash to add Kill City to the bunch - am I glad of that NOW. The only "problem" is this is yet one more upcoming release I need to get jiggy with... They're piling up like a sumbitch:

1,000 Years - The Corin Tucker Band (Oct. 05)
Marnie Stern (Oct. 05)
The Bootleg Series Vol. 9: The Witmark Demos 1962-1964 - Bob Dylan (Oct. 19)
Kill City reissue - Iggy Pop & James Williamson (Oct. 19)
A Can Of Bees reissue - The Soft Boys (Oct. 19)
The Promise: The Darkness On The Edge Of Town Story - Bruce Springsteen (Nov. 16)

And there's also this Jenny & Johnny album that came out yesterday. Not exactly essential; there's a huge quality abyss between Jenny Lewis and her damn boyfriend, but since I'm a Jenny fan I'll probably get it anyway. Let's add the facts that 1.- I'm still trying to come up with the coins to pay for Miles' Complete On The Corner Sessions before the next credit card payment is up, and 2.- My main prorities are Charley Patton's Screamin' and Hollerin' The Blues ($150) and Miles' Complete In A Silent Way and Complete Jack Johnson [that's the boxer, not the douche, evidently] boxes (around $35 each), and I got myself one overwhelming motherfucker of a situation...
