Noise anyone?

What are yr guys' noise set-ups?

I'm a complete newbie at everything, I've been picking up fairly easily with how to hook everything up, but I didn't know if you've all found something that just seems to work better for you.

Right now I've got an old school mixer, a bass amp with 2 inputs, a couple of fuzz pedals, and a gigantic Digitech pedal.

I've got the Digitech hooked into the mixer, the two output cords are together to make ridiculous noises, but that's about all I can get for right now. I don't know exactly how to hook everything up.

I've tried to hook up my pedals to the mixer and amp to get continuous noise, but I'm completely oblivious on how to do it. And also, I wasn't sure if I needed a seperate amp hook up to mix my guitaring with my noise.

If you could....please helpppp!!!! Thanx!

i have been playing extremly minimal lately.
at a show i played the other day all i had was a microphone through distortion and a feedback loop (unprocessed) through a 4 track mixer and it was pretty much the best show ive ever played.

i just got this chorous from someone and by itself it sucks, but i figured if i put a 1/8"-1/4" jack converter in it without an 1/8" input then put it through the distortion i got a really rich think, dense wall of cacophony insues so ive been playing with that. i just ordered a digitech delay and the digitech death metal that im looking forward to.

I wish I could have seen that, sounds cool.

All I have is a toy keyboard that I stripped the keys off of and hooked up to an amp....

I've been wanting to experiment with more kids toys and such, I've heard some pretty strange and awesome shit out of those.

It's fun to mess around with old school handheld battery powered radios. Take off the backs of them and mess with the circuits and it's nothing but sheer greatness. :)

I like to keep it simple.
Delay and distortion, Ill add more pedals sometimes for the effect, but 2 suits me fine. Often I only use a distortion and just play prepared guitar and shit. Im thinking about making a cd out of it on STARKER KLANG RECORDS. Listening to some stuff I did the other night. I quite like it.

toys are lame.

DoubleNickels 06.20.2006 11:06 PM

Guitar-> Boss Overdrive-> Big Muff-> tremolo-> chorus-> phaser-> flanger-> delay/1 second looper of DOOOOOM.

Yeah, pretty much my setup.

i hate the whole idea of "circuit bending", its so overly done and retarded, like theres a whole idealogy about soldering a wire between two metal things. I basically ripped my keyboard apart just so I couldnt play chromatic tones or anything like that. I mess with circuits but try to keep it very simple and I use toys because thats the easiest thing to find that makes sound and runs on batteries...

Right now I have this small Marshall 40 watt, which I don't use much, I usually use this 80's-90's preamp going into two 250 watt speakers. I have a zoom 505 multi-effects pedal, and a cry baby wah. I usually use an Epiphone Les Paul Standard fitted with a Bigsby, but for feedback I use an old Peavey.
I also have a very small Dean Markley portable amp, which uses batteries, this is very fun for playing outdoors and such.
The rest of the people in my band have everything else I need so we all share, pretty much.

Mr T pitties the fool who don't know how to make noise!

Onani Nic 06.21.2006 09:42 AM

i got a mixing desk, a bass guitar, some distortion pedals, a tape loop emulator pedal, a drum machine, some shitty mics and used to have a contact mic.

just loop pedals from input to output on your mixer and it should make a constant noise.

_slavo_ 06.21.2006 10:25 AM

a sampler, two pedals (delay/distortion), guitar and a broken shortwave radio

Mr.T once punched Chuck Norris at the exact moment he roundhouse kicked Mr.T in the chest. the result was the 80’s.

Thankkkk you, that was the answer to my original question. I appreciate that. I figured that's what you did, I tried it out but I think there's just something wrong with a few of my chords and a pedal that keeps fucking up.

-shrugs- I'm new to this whole thing, and whatever noises I get out that I think are great, I'm pretty much proud of myself. I've got a few people from out here and Cincinnati that help out tremendously and don't care if you sound like "shit", they do anything to help out and the creativity of how you get the great noise is what they look at most of the time.

Thanks for yr guys' help!!! I really appreciate all of it. If you guys have links to some of yr noise, post 'em! I'd like to hear.

golden child 06.21.2006 09:21 PM

you should get noise out of it without a pedal, or that could just be my cheap ass mixer.

m^a(t)h 06.21.2006 11:21 PM
