Liam Gallagher

The former Oasis frontman is starting a new band! Liam is quoted as saying: "It might be shit but you don't know until you try."

nicfit 10.28.2009 02:35 PM

I like his voice when he's not talking.

Liam is famous for his quotes. Here's one of his most famous quotes:

Americans want grungy people, stabbing themselves in the head on stage. They get a bright bunch like us, with deodorant on, they don't get it.”

Lurker 10.28.2009 02:55 PM

I think Liam Gallagher is a psychopath.

Lurker 10.28.2009 02:56 PM

And a nobhead.

Keeping It Simple 10.28.2009 02:57 PM

I love the guy.

noisereductions 10.28.2009 02:57 PM

Yes yes, I was talkin' bout the voice, not the contents.

Skuj 10.29.2009 09:27 PM

I recently read Liam Gallagher will be playing his first post-Oasis gigs in a couple of months. He's been writing new material with former Oasis bandmates. So basically it'll be Oasis minus Noel Gallagher. I'm wondering if any former Oasis bandmates will work with Noel when he stops catching up on Coronation Street and gets down to what he does best, making great music. If they don't, it'll be interesting to see who Noel recruits when he goes back into the recording studio.

Out of interest, who would any of you have chosen as best frontman of all time?

The Kasabian singer, probably. He's got an amazing presence on stage, and he can sing some proper tunes.

Derek 03.27.2010 02:36 PM

hahaha

Keeping It Simple 03.27.2010 03:08 PM

I would've chosen Ian McCulloch. He was a great frontman, plus his opinions towards other bands is just as blunt as Liam Gallaghers. In fact it earned him the nickname "Mac the Mouth".

Ian, unsurprisingly, is an admirer of Oasis, especially Liam. He's been quoted as saying: "From when Oasis first started I thought, "Thank Christ someone has picked up on that simple technique of saying they're the best thing on the planet and just fronting it." Liam is a part of a great ancestry of lippy, insecure bastard frontmen".

hmm I beg to differ. Your description seem to apply perfectly for Brian Molko or Matthew Belamy though, I probably would've chosen one of those two.

I see your point, but allow me to point out that the Kasabian frontman took EMPIRE, arguably one of the best albums of the past 40 years, to some serious level of sheer aceness. NME recently quoted none other than Ian Brown saying that the last time he attended a Kasabian gig he reminded him of himself and The Roses at their Spike Island best. That's no mean feat, you know?

Glice 03.27.2010 03:46 PM

1. Rick Witter
2. Miles Hunt
3. Mark Morriss
4. Martin Rossiter
5. James McColl.

You rank Rick Witter higher than Mark Morris? What's wrong with you? No Brett Anderson on that list?

Pookie 03.27.2010 04:21 PM

I've no idea what you're all talking about.

Aside from Miles Hunt I have no idea who these people are.

Derek 03.27.2010 04:26 PM

Adrian Belew is probably one of my favourite frontmen. He was loose and eccentric which was juxtaposed nicely with the stoicism of Robert Fripp.

Genteel Death 03.27.2010 04:56 PM

The wildest on stage is surely Edwyn Collins. I saw him years ago at the Astoria, and I have really fond memories of the moment when he played ''A Girl Like You'' and went on to piss on all the people standing on the front row after that. Priceless.

loubarret 03.27.2010 05:00 PM

mark stewart is a great frontman

theallelusive 03.27.2010 07:48 PM

Can't wait to see him get wasted and embarrass himself.

Oh, Collins was the man back in the day. And combining his rich, velvety voice with that guitar sound. Peerless, to this day. These modern frontmen and women really could learn some lessons from old Edwin 'Edwin Edwin' Collins-Edwin.

What about Pete Voss? He re-defined mildly surly-looking sneers TWICE in one career. We certainly wouldn't remember that other wild-child of frontmenary, Gavin Goodwin, quite so fondly if it weren't for Voss' trailblazing innovations.
