Honestly I do too. I think we both like Blacc Hollywood, right? And I have Rolling Papers and a few of his tapes, but I don't take him very seriously. He's ear candy for when I'm in certain moods. In the grand scheme of things, he's not a very unique or compelling artist. Yeah, I like him in general, but he's upper bottom tier material. There's a million rappers that are roughly as talented and unique as Wiz, you know?

So that's all I'm saying. Even though he didn't deserve the retaliation, and even though I like him alright, I still walked away from that tweet war liking Kanye more and if anything, liking Wiz less.
It's really not fair to compare them, though. Kanye's top tier, unique as hell, virtually peerless.

Sometimes when I type things that are actual words and not typos, my phone replaces the word with Kanye. That's how much I talk about Kanye.

Severian 01.29.2016 08:46 PM

Oops. Not this weekend. Saturday, Feb. 13th.

louder 01.29.2016 08:49 PM

That tweet war was funny, Wiz has been salty about Kanye for a while and used the new album title as an excuse to come at him. I'm sure Kanye doesn't give a damn about Max B and his album sounds nothing like him, Wiz knew it too. Kanye put him back in his place, that comment about his son was definitely too far though..

But it was still fucking hilarious. I laughed out loud despite myself. Way over the line, but it was perfect, especially juxtaposed with that "blessings, blessings! positve blessings!" bit. Kanye's a crazy motherfucker in many many ways, it's true. But I'm 100% in his corner. I got there because his music has hit me on a personal level almost without fail since I started listening to him.

Hell, Kanye's the reason I gave Wiz a chance. I thought I had him pegged, and discovered upon closer inspection that I was way off, and I'm more open to music in general -- of all genres, not just hip-hop-- as a direct result of the payoff I got from giving him more of a chance.

And yeah, it's obvious that Ye isn't referring to "wavey" (the sub-style of a sub-genre or whatever) by naming his album Waves. It seems as though the theme is actually based on, like, *waves* ... specifically light waves, but I would rule out water waves either.

Wiz be trollin' for beef.

Side note: Kim Kardashian > Amber Rose. In every conceivable way. And I'm not saying "kk" is my idea of a suitable mate, but damned if she isn't an all-around step up and forward from that gutter-mouthed skank.

Severian 01.29.2016 11:15 PM

Something I've been thinking about lately: who (besides sir Paul) would I like to see Kanye do a totally unexpected collaboration with in the future?

Hate to sound like a thrice broken record, but I'd seriously lose my shit if he and RDJ made their peace and collaborated on some material. And Flaming Lips in Yoshimi-electro mode would make a great backing band for another sung project.

Also, I totally want him to do that Bowie tribute that the Internet is trying to petition against. Can you even imagine how fucking awesome that would be? Kanye, Kendrick, HudMo and the rest of the usual players with some surprise appearances from, I don't know... whoever... doing a career spanning Bowie tribute? Balls to the wall, my friends.

Kim was definitely an upgrade from Amber.

Speaking of unexpected collaborations.. "Chance The Rapper Wants To Start A Duo With Earl Sweatshirt"

Awesome!

Wiz was in South America during his ridiculous Twitter spat with Kanye West that went down on Wednesday (Jan. 29). Later that night, after 'Ye had disparaged Wiz' ex-wife and claimed ownership over their child together, the Taylor Gang emcee yelled "fuck Kanye!" while he was performing in Argentina.

Wiz went on to perform in the neighboring country of Chile the next night, and during that show, he had more harsh words for Kanye.

In video captured by TMZ, one can hear Wiz' switch up the lyrics to one of his songs in order to indict West: "Kanye gon' get smashed out," he sings near the beginning of the clip. He then repeated one of his tweets that he had directed at Kanye during their initial back and forth: "KK is weed fool."

And it seems that Wiz' South American fans are well aware of the viral beef, as someone in the Chilean crowd can be seen holding up a sign that reads "YE IS A LIL BITCH."

Before the clip ends, Wiz can be heard issuing one more threat toward the WAVES rapper: "We coming for you Kanye, you better run n*gga."

Wow

Wiz is definitely not the "nice stoner guy" anymore. He seems hurt.

Kevin Gates' debut lived up to my expectations and beyond!

I like you a little bit less right now. Trying not to be "that guy" but, what can I say.

Also, Kanye would beat dreads off of Wiz. Nobody's "coming for" Kanye. This is Meek Mill V. Drake shit.

louder 01.31.2016 02:47 AM

New Drake single: http://pitchfork.com/news/63251-drak...-out-in-april/

Yeah, don't think he's going to top If You're Reading This..

louder 01.31.2016 02:48 AM

SPIN gave Gates an 8/10 and album of the week, much deservedly so: http://www.spin.com/2016/01/review-k...yang-on-islah/

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 01.31.2016 05:01 PM

Four dudes in a hoopty with some duct tape and a strap would have Kanye become a martyr to rap in a hot minute yo

Hey Kanye, never forget U can be touched"

Severian 01.31.2016 05:32 PM

not loving this. I don't know. The banter is fine. But, hip hop live albums are just really tough to pull off. It's not clicking for me.

louder 02.01.2016 07:32 PM

Oh well.

Kim created a poll on her Twitter where she asks which title we'd like Kanye's next album to have: https://twitter.com/KimKardashian/st...53238359453696

So Help Me God is in the lead. Wondering if that means Kanye will change it once again..

louder 02.01.2016 07:33 PM

Ye said it's gonna be a Gospel album and it was reported that Kirk Franklin was involved.. that makes me super stoked. I'm starting to think there's a chance that this album is gonna be exactly what I wanted from Kanye.. a super happy album with a lot of soul.
