Mono

Got introduced to them last month from someone on this forum. Ugh, they're coming to ottawa but it's a 19+ show so I can't go :'(. I'm getting a record by them soon too, they're spectacular. Discuss!

Well, they are pretty good. It was cool seeing them live the first time, after that, boooooring. It all sounds the same after a while.

Anywho, yeah, you're not missing much live. In my opinion, they're one of those bands that sound better on record than they do live.

I soooo disagree with that. I saw them live last year and seeing them again next month. On record listening to 15 minute soft/loud instrumentals doesn't quite cut it... but seeing it live where it's actually happening is a totally awesome experience. In my top 3 live shows.

Mono is good. I dig it.

one of my favorite bands!!! especially instrumental bands

never seen them live but their records are so...WOW!!!!...one step more has such deathness and stillborn beauty to it; walking cloud is so gorgeus yet so sad at the same time. and you are there goes from angry and heavy and chaotic to beautiful and sad yet hopeful.

that's one of the least boring bands i can think of

I first came across Mono supporting Einstuerzende Neubauten two years ago, and I was stunned. They tour Europe in a couple of months, and there are rumours of a secret gig in London which I hope are true (assuming of course that I get to know about it).

Which record are you planning to get Inhuman? I haven't heard the new one yet, but of the others I'd recommend Under the Pipal Tree most highly.

hi there,if you guys missed it...
http://www.badongo.net/vid/96224
here is the link to a 29Mb wmv video of mono playing kidnapper bell live during last euro tour (at the c.r.c. of abano, padova, italy).
audio is not that great, because i had to compress the file in wmv format,on my laptop it sounds "quite crappy),but on my pc with good speakers it is quite good...the original avi done with my camera was 400Mb big...too much to upload...

hebbel 05.05.2006 03:39 AM

i have only listened to "walking cloud"... nothing spectacular!

what should i check out?

Okay yeah, you're the one who made the original thread that introduced them to me. Oh, and I'm getting You are there :)

nicfit 05.05.2006 08:19 AM

hola inhuman, glad you like them.i saw them live a bunch of times and i think they're great, better than on records actually...
i absolutely love the third track of you are there...hebbel i suggest you to listen "under the pipal tree" and "one step more and you die",they are quite different from the last two (more "epic") records.
