Have you ever heard the other version of "Old Age" that wasn't on the box? Not the Hole cover, but Kurt at home. I can upload it when I get home if you'd like.

StevOK 10.07.2008 08:46 AM

I'm currently listening to The Talking Heads - Remain In Light

Before that I listened to a couple of Daft Punk songs ("Digital Love" and "Short Circuit"), and before that I listened to Beck's Modern Guilt.

I dnt believe so. I've heard the Hole version, obviously. But when I got the box and heard the full band one I was floored. They just sound so f'ing great. And the (deciferable) lyrics are tragic. "One more day to complete my service..."

Where'd the solo version come from? I mean, a certain bootleg?

from wikipedia:

in 1998, a boombox recording of the song performed by Nirvana (with significantly different lyrics) was surfaced by Seattle newspaper The Stranger. In the article that accompanied the clip, Novoselic confirmed that the recording was made in 1991 and that "Old Age" was a Nirvana song, leading to more speculation about Cobain's involvement in Hole's catalog. Nirvana had even attempted to record "Old Age" during the sessions for Nevermind, but it was left incomplete as Cobain had yet to finish the lyrics and the band had run out of studio time. (The incomplete recording appeared on the 2004 compilation With the Lights Out, credited to Cobain.)
