I am thinking the same!!! Nobody, but nobody, was paying Loveless much attention in 1991 when I first bought it and fell in love with it. Same with this. Those of us in the know can look smugly annoyed 10 years from now when the rest of the world suddenly discovers this "lost gem" called Mirrored. |
Loveless got all kinds of praise and hype upon its release in the world in which I live. I don't know what you are talking about. People were talking it up all the time in the press, and calling it "groundbreaking," "visionary" and "important" all the damn time. Not that it didn't deserve it, but it was hardly going unnoticed.

And Battles is getting super heavy attention at the moment. Praised by hip Indie journals and, I believe, got a big write up in a lefty uk broadsheet.

A mix of Sonic Youth covers. It's what I've been listening to A LOT.

battles are approaching overhyping levels.
i have blown a few minds in the last couple of weeks when i've revealed to people that i've known them for like 3 years now. i've also seen the video for atlas on tv, and they don't even show popular indie hipster bands like, say, the decemberists on tv here. |
stone temple pilots.
i just realized sex-type thing is a really good song. they were a good band. |

Easy, fella. Easy. I remember it getting talked up in the press, too. It just didn't connect with the masses. At least that's my recollection. I'm sure I'm not a reliable source, though. I was in my late 30s and not exactly running around with the music kids. |
Jutok Kaneko - Endless Ruins lp

I ought to listen to that again. I hated it when it came out, but my ears are more accustomed to that kind of racket these days.

Mono mix! On a first-pressing Columbia issue! Used. God, what luck. And I cannot believe what great shape this is in. Obviously the previous owner was some kind of an audiophile, because there's nary a tick or pop on the whole thing. |
