Word! But I don't know how many times I passed it up because of the sticker price. I can go into a store and drop 40 or 50 bucks on 3 or 4 new LPs, but ask me to drop that on just one record and I freak out. But I'm glad I bit the bullet and finally did it. Worth every penny. |

Jeez, why not get an original copy maaaan. Seriously though, it's pretty easy to get an original for not much money. That record has been the subject of several geeky record collector conversations between me and friends. Usually something like this. "I got an original copy of Metal Box the other day" "Yeah? How oxidised is the case" "A bit, but it still a strong VG to EX-" OK, the last line is a fabrication but it was a conversation that was one step away from mentioning Goldmine grading standards. |
yeah that's a lot of money. it was an offer, so...
i've never spent more than about 20 euros on a record. |

This is a lot easier to find, though, and I'm not that into worrying about having original pressings, especially with 4 Men doing such a nice job mastering, pressing, and packaging this thing. Plus, it's new, i.e., mint! |
Yeah, I'll generally take a reissue over an original because, as you say, it's brand new. But my friend told me that there was a record dealer near here that has about 3 copies of Metal Box for £10 each. I'd rather that than the £30 the 4 Men With Beards issue would set me back.
|
I don't know. Depends on the condition, of course. Generally, I will spend a little more for a new reissue than go with a cheaper original that's been played a lot.
And these days labels like 4 Men and Sundazed are making such nice looking and sounding reissues, it's almost like getting an original pressing. |

Sticky Fingers. Man, this sounds good today. I must have like what they call a "hot stamper" LP, one of those rare perfect pressings, because it's, like, the Stones are, like, in my living room, man, I swear...

Merzbow / O'Rourke / Giffoni - Electric Dress

Shellac-Ghosts

Les Georges Leningrad - Sangue Puro
My first listen to the album and band. I like it so far. The second song lacks in interesting vocals.. |
Amon Duul II - Carnival in Babylon. But I'm not really getting into it at this point for some reason so I may put something else on in a minute.
|
Fugazi: Repeater + 3 songs.
I ordered a bunch of vinyl and compact discs from Dischord. Among that was only one 7" Fugazi EP but then I realised I already own the songs on this album (the one I'm listening to). That's ok though, still looking forward to getting it.:D |
