It's time for the start of my next 'run through the discographies of several artists at a time' project.
Currently on my list: Aphex Twin, Seefeel, Kraftwerk, Can, Neu!, Big Black... Anyone have suggestions for hardcore punk bands? |
Discharge or Riistytet are good places to start...

You... are wise. I didn’t discover Neu! until college. Enjoy Aphex Twin. Let me know if you want to talk about Aphex Twin ... ever... seriously... listening orders, collections, SoundCloud dumps, which studio albums are the best and which EPs are as good as studio albums... anything Aphex/RDJ, I will chat like crazy about it. Also Can is amazing and “Future Days” is one of the best albums of all time. Quote:
UHHHH.... you’ve come to the right place (this forum). Any particular era or style of hardcore punk? I could spit some recommendations for each decade, 80s through 2010s. Let me know! (BTW: if you’re into 2010s hardcore punk, listen to “Reflecting the Light,” the 30-minute masterpiece by the short-lived industrial-Punk-noise hybrid group from Sweden. One of the best albums of the decade and ferocious as fuck. |

Interesting. Let Down, at least to me, is the perfect example of an uplifting song. The melody makes it so. |

Recently found out they'll play in Vienna next May. Looking forward to it.

Daughters - You Won't Get What You Want
I find this one to be massively overrated. Atmospherically it seems like it might go somewhere every now and then, but it's bogged down by the terribly one note vocal delivery. There also isn't much in the way of cohesion, it all works - but there's never a point that really clicked with me. All of the tracks just kind of drift along on their own. Their reverence of SWANS is quite evident on "Satan In The Wait" and "The Reason They Hate Me", which is much appreciated, because they at least seem to offer some interesting melodical stylings for a change. I feel like there's some good in there, but as a whole I just don't enjoy it that much. |

Yeah. It’s fine, but is it great? I don’t think so. There’s nothing new here. It’s well done and everything, but Jesus... the hype is ridiculous. Just shows you how starved the world is for quality higher-profile noise rock. Be the only game in town and you’ll end up on year-end lists. |
I Might Be Wrong: Live Recordings.
Fun hearing them in 'rock out' mode. |
im still working so still same naxos playlist
fun friday! lol |

It's a solid release, and an interesting turn of style for the band. I find Hell Songs and Canada Songs more dynamic and chaotic overall, back then the band was more on par w/ dudes like Dillinger Escape Plan or AIDS Wolf. With that in mind, I'd argue that YWGWYW is actually their most cohesive overall so I understand the hype. I saw Daughters live w/ the Locust and Cattle Decapitation as a younger lad, and the singer accidentally spit into my mouth. What a lucky boy I was. |

Not a single nanosecond wasted. A perfect album. |

Constant craving, baby. (Weird choice though. I don’t mind, but you don’t get to give people shit about liking Pearl Jam of whatever ever again. Fair warning.) |

I like it, and yes it’s cohesive, but I don’t think there’s anything novel about it. It’s Daughters done very well. It’s not a masterpiece. It does kick ass though. |
Ben Frost - AURORA Still vaporizes my brain in the best possible way. (I know there are haters here... they can fuck off, not interested) |
