Barn Owl - V Saw them play yesterday and they really surprised me. much, much better than the last time I've seen them. It's great that they moved away from using guitars live (still bits of sampled guitar bliss though). All these nice stereo pan things and subtle use of beats here and there - it really worked well. One of the best shows I've seen in a while. Highly recommend seeing these guys european tour dates |

I've been listening to this album since 1984ish...it holds up but surprisingly to me the Freeze hold up the best. Hippy music became normalized - real hardcore punk was NEVER normalized, some of it go stolen by metal and thrash bands, but the pure hardcore music so stylized on this record by gang Green and Jerry's Kids never got corporatized. So my point is hardcore still sounds new in some ways, and underground. Certainly it is not as heavy as say Earth Crisis or someone like that. |

^jealous. I'm holding out til I find the deluxe edition.

Though he's never been my favorite wu tang member, Ghost's solo career is without parallel in the group. In fact, he could go album for album with only the best Rza, Gza, and Raekwon releases without using the same album twice.
I still don't think he's got anything that matches Swords or Cuban Linx, but he will. In fact I think he's starting to become as respected for his solo work as he is for his contributions to Wu albums. This year just keeps getting better. |

Yeah, I wanted to as well, but I got way too amped over the preliminary listens. I am sure I will have to but the deluxe as well. Money well fucking spent. |
lots of Thin Lizzy so far today. I also turned on Sun Ra's "Life is Splendid" for a bit.

Do I like it? Are you kidding me? By the halfway mark it was already the best first listen I've had to a Wu solo album since OB4CL2. By the end, it was the the best first listen to anything Wu related since Diagrams. Now, it's hard to think of it as a solo Wu album at all. It's just Ghostface, making a record that makes Wolf feel tame. Best hip hop album of the year so far? Yes. And though it's way too soon to make that statement, I'm making it. I'm interested in hearing your thoughts... |
