luisxvi 09.01.2008 01:49 PM

Love Sun City Girls. Really enjoyed them at ATP a few years ago. It was a shame that I didnt get to see the whole set because they were really good.

fugazifan 09.10.2008 05:06 AM

i dont like seeing this thread disappear too much and im bored so i'll do some semi tabs, and write them in an annoying manner since i dont know how to tab

im sure they are all a bit incorrect

I went fishin' with a hammer and sickle G-C-G
G C G
And a bone crusher attached to a pickle G-C-G
G C G
I snuck into the nest, pulled a pin from my vest G-C-G
G D G
Started suckin' on that juicy little trickle G-D-G

G C G
Why should we change this world today?
G C G
(Those soft fragile eggshell minds)
G D G
When we can smash 'em at will or let 'em decay?
G D G
(Those young fragile eggshell minds)
G C G
We'll keep them well-fed with our poisionous crumbs
G C G
(Those soft fragile eggshell minds)
G D G
And they'll keep their heads up our ass to see where our shit comes from
G D G
(Those young fragile eggshell minds)

im not sure about this part:

We're gonna make 'em bleed! (breed?)
We're gonna make 'em cede! (seed?)

the rest is the same.

SPACE PROPHET DOGON

i play it in open c
and i do it like this

line 1
e
c
g 5-7-9-10-10-9 hp10-9-7-5-12-12-10-9-7-5-4-2-0--- 0
c 5/4--5-4-0
g
c

line 2

e
c
g 10-10-10-9hp10-9-7-5-12-12-10-9-7-5-4-2-0 0
c 5/4 5-4-0
g
c

line 3-missing a few notes at the end i think

e
c
g 0-2-4-5-5-4-7-7-7-5-4-2-0 0 2/5
c 0 5-5-4-2-0
g
c

at the end of line 1 and two they do some cvariations like this
e
c
g 0-2-4-5--4-2-0

blume mamba

i dont know it all only the easy parts

x4- CCC-D-A (hold the a)

E
B
G 5-5-5-5-7-7-7-7-9-9-9-5

thats all i know from that song.

thats it for now

atsonicpark 09.10.2008 08:43 AM

haha.

I figured out soi cowboy's main riff.

On bottom string:
3-0-3-5-3-5-7-(slide to)-10
10-7-5-3-5-3-5-3-0.

Someting like that. You'll get the hang of it pretty quickly.

Blue Mamba's opening riff is a power chord on the second string.. uh.. at the 3rd fret (but 5th on the next string), the fifth fret (seventh on the next string), and the open.

Thanks for the Space Prophet tab!

atsonicpark 09.10.2008 11:24 AM

oh hahaha.

I don't know chord names.

fugazifan 09.10.2008 11:31 AM

no prob bob

atsonicpark 09.10.2008 11:31 AM

now I just need holy cross little river tabs!

fugazifan 09.10.2008 11:39 AM

hahha

open dm
so the string are tuned like this
high to low

d
a
f
d
a
d

always play all the strings so there is a constant 4 string drone
and it goes a little something like this

d 3-3-3-3-2-0-0-0-0
a 0-0-0-0-0-0-3b-0
f 0000000000000000000000000000
d 000000000000000000000000000
a 00000000000000000000000000000
d 000000000000-3-3-3-3-3-3-2-2-0

my solo is
on the high d string

12-12-12-10-12-10-12-15-12-10-7-10-7-5-3-2-3-2-0-0

piano just plays d

atsonicpark 09.10.2008 11:44 AM

hahahah. That solo actually reminds me of a riff I play in scissor shock...

We should collaborate some day..

fugazifan 09.10.2008 11:50 AM

i was thinking about that. at least doing a split sometime in the near future. . .

atsonicpark 09.10.2008 12:01 PM

do you have a full drum set?

I really need some kind of drum samples or something for my new stuff.. i'm sick of using electronic drums.. I guess it'd still just be samples and such but i need a real drum sound at least. sigh.

fugazifan 09.10.2008 04:16 PM

um... dellilahs drummer has a full set. but have of it is in my apartment and half in her buildings bomb shelter.
cirque play on whatever drums are at my apartment-hi hat
snare
crash

thats it for now
you dont know any drummers?

atsonicpark 09.10.2008 05:49 PM

I don't know any reliable drummers haha.

fugazifan 10.18.2008 06:58 PM

i love this song...

greedrex 10.19.2008 03:42 AM

yo dudes.
I hear so much about Sun City Girls. They're fairly unknown over here in France.
tell me which album to start with just to get a good idea of what they're about and not remain ignorant for the rest of my life.
thanks dOOdz

greedrex 10.19.2008 03:44 AM

comments such as:
-"i hate when people do that; Go check for yrself'
-" there are too many. I can't be bothered"
or
"Greedrex, you suck"

will be discarded.
and may be neg repped
"be careful or i will neg rep you .... AGAIN!!!!"

fugazifan 10.19.2008 04:04 AM

i think that they are pretty unknown everywhere.
their classic album is Torch of the Mystics. its a masterpeice. its also pretty structured and less bizzare as a lot of their albums. so that might be a good place to start. the first album of theior that i heard was their self titled 1st one. and its pretty amazing as well so you can try that one out. horse cock phener is also amazing and probably their most "rock" album. just dont get put off by the extremely crude lyrics.
aftyer those id check out 330000 crossdressers
dantes disnyland inferno
box of chameleons
kaliflower
flute and mask
jack creek
dulce

heres a lot of their classic albums to download

greedrex 10.19.2008 04:12 AM

merci fugazifan

Derek 10.19.2008 07:25 AM

Horse Cock Phepner is my favourite one.

atsonicpark 10.19.2008 07:26 AM

fugazifan, taking the words out of my mouth.

Box of Chameleons is my favorite (or FOLK SONGS OF THE RICH AND EVIL or whatever the fuck it's called) and probably the best place to start since it has every aspect of their music contained within.

I dunno, start anywhere, they have some shit where they're just jamming and jerking off, but I'd say 80-90% of their 100+ records are great. At this point, I have everything they've ever done except a few of the casettes like great american tricksters. I'd say the ones on experimentaletc blog and on the other blog I posted a few pages back are definitely the ones you NEED, though.. just get em all man... brilliant shit. Too brilliant to even comprehend really.

After much thought though I think my favorite thing related to SCG in any way, though, is sir richard bishop's salvadore kali. What an amazing album.. my next "classics album" post btw..

batreleaser 10.19.2008 10:38 AM

Yeah I own 51 SCG cds, tapes, and vunyl and I only dislike 3 out of those records. Crazy consistency.

Derek 10.19.2008 10:42 AM

Yeah, Salvador Kali is definitely one of the better SCG-related albums.

IT'S BAAAAAAAACK!

atsonicpark 11.30.2008 06:54 PM

the only scg albums I'm missing are cloaven theater tape # 3 and audio letter to mitch meyers... well, I'm missing a few of the soundtracks but they've never been released, so what can I do? Track down the original copies of the films and try to rip the soundtrack as much as possible? It's a possibility.

Also, if you have soulseek, add jandekfahey.. that's my slsk account on my mom's computer.. anyway, I'm sharing a cloaven video.. it's like 708mb, otherwise I'd upload it somewhere. I think I'm going to try to get my friend to burn it on dvd for me.

Since they're not linked on the other blogs, here's some cloaven cassettes:

Also, here's eddy detroit's "philosopher's journey", this sun city girls related (you may know eddy's name from scg's immortal gods release) - http://www.mediafire.com/?41qi2aydcjn

I'm currently listening to guns of the chupacabra soundtrack by scg. Great shit.

greedrex 11.30.2008 06:58 PM

i'll add you on slsk later on
kool
don't ban me mofo!
hahahahaha

atsonicpark 11.30.2008 07:00 PM

Haha, okay, it's not the account I usually use, so there'll be like kanye west and toby keith songs on it and shit. I just happened to download that on my mom's computer and it's too big of a file to transfer to the computer I usually use today.

greedrex 11.30.2008 07:06 PM

er i'm not adding you then cuz I have all sorts of crazy super shit to share!!!

greedrex 11.30.2008 07:07 PM

You let us believe you know yr shit and then you come up and tell us you listen K West and Toby keith.
RIP OFF / FAKE ELITIST

greedrex 11.30.2008 07:08 PM

I want a refund.

atsonicpark 11.30.2008 07:09 PM

Haha it's my mom's computer!

There's a folder that says sharri's songs. Sharri's my mom.

atsonicpark 11.30.2008 09:15 PM

Alright, Harold, start up that mower! Someday I'm gonna get me a ranch down in Buckeye. I'm gonna breed jealousy and rage. I'm gonna get me a girlfriend that grows clear hair and name her Horse Cock Phepner. Then I'll take her daughter's polaroid and introduce her to my prophet toy. I'm gonna take her picture and hold it up like a mirror to every girl and boy. I'll change her into a welldigger by day and a Calvinist by night. She'll be predestined to become an evil Jesus and kill every witch on sight. I'll take her down to the melon patch for all the folks to see, that she's as ripe as a cantalope and as invisible as me. Oh she'll buck and snort and chew her nails and holler up a storm . . . the wind will blow the clouds on in and the cumulus will form. The rain will make the rhubarb grow and the sun will make them think, then I'll pour myself some Wesson Oil and sit back and have a drink. Now I had a child once, I named him pork and beans, so he'd grow up in a hostile environment and fulfill all his parents' dreams. Yeah, I saw Dan Blocker in Playdead magazine with a soaking wet brassiere on. Your horse knows me. I had a turkey that drowned like that once. They shoot horses, don't they? WAKE UP SAM! THEY'RE PLAYING CHOPIN!

what's this?

and thanks for saving me an Eddy Detroit LP rip, but it's just 128 so i will probably get around to doing a proper rip at some point.

batreleaser 12.01.2008 10:52 PM

I listened to Grotto of Miracles earlier, its prolly the most Ive heard them play around with Noise Rock and Skrony Guitars while still remaining the mystics they are.

fugazifan 12.02.2008 01:08 AM

have you heard valentine for matahari?

atsonicpark 12.02.2008 01:34 AM

Narlus, it's just some soundtrack they did.. they've done about 12 soundtracks but most don't have "official" releases -- yet..

I'm discovering new scg shit all the time. every time I think my collection is complete..... I jsut found one I'd never heard of on soulseek called instruments of torture. This dude on there named Edweena has a great collection, about 10 bootlegs.. someone sent me cloven theater # 3 today so all I need is audio letter to mitch meyers and my collection (according to the official scg discography at least) is complete.. then it's on to bootlegs..

New Session People for the win.

batreleaser 12.02.2008 09:49 AM

yeah, they have a never ending discography it seems like
