sarramkrop 04.15.2007 05:26 PM

I guess you better figure it out then.
I don't have any spare change for you, buddy.

I haven't listened to that Ruins show yet. Other stuff is taking precedence.

Hey, I was actually able to burn this '87 Metroplex one to a dvd. Success!

sarramkrop 04.15.2007 06:09 PM

Thanks for nothing you.....you.....you....

atari 2600 04.15.2007 06:12 PM

The seeder had no instructions on the Ruins to not convert to lossy, so it's ripe to be shared. If it's something you really want then you'll get it from someone.
I was thinking of putting it up at the group.

atari 2600 04.15.2007 06:15 PM

I've stated it a hundred times.
If you're not using BitTorrent and you don't have a dime membership, then you're really limiting the sort of great material that you can readily get.

sarramkrop 04.15.2007 06:17 PM

I've noticed that, but why does it take 300 years to download a show? I've tried with some interesting Velvet Underground stuff that i had found on their forum, but it was taking THREE HOURS to download it!!!

Absolutely. I think the only flaw is that little cut during the intro to Brother James and mine has some little self-correcting problems (skips for a few seconds) at the end of Pipeline too.

I have two others (Headliners in Madison & Spirit in San Diego...both from our benefactor) on dvd from '87 and this one I think is the best one. I saw a lot of hardcore shows at the Metroplex back in the day. Although, you gotta love the part at Headliners when Thurston is asking the audience to donate them some clothes...oh, and when the joint is lit.

Three hours isn't that long for a torrent. The reason torrents take long is because the files are of the best quality available. They are lossless files if the torrent is audio and DVD files if it is video. They aren't mp3s or mpeg or wmv or some other cheaply encoded videos.

I thought all of the torrent shit sounded complicated at first but it's easy. I guess it's because of the program that I use. Just get µTorrent and install it. Then right-click a file and open it. It will automatically open in µTorrent and start downloading. I didn't even change any of the settings. I still get an NAT error but it doesn't seem to affect my downloads in any way since I can download at full speed when there are a lot of seeders.

atari 2600 04.15.2007 07:11 PM

SonikJesus, pork/krop's already off and starting ten threads about the the cobwebs on his ceiling. Besides, all the guy has ever done is talk bad shit about torrents.

µTorrent, besides being guaranteed spyware and adware free, is a good user-friendly utilitarian program. Although I don't use it myself, I've recommended it a few times; the reason being its (yes, I agree) extreme ease-of-use.

I just burned our newest gem to DVD.....hope it works!

Thanks for that. I've re- downloaded the software yesterday and i suppose i'll leave the pc on for a while, in order to grab it. As far as atari is concerned, he needs to double up the dose.

it is dvd format, isn't it? or not?
coz, it sounds (from what you're saying) that it meant to be difficult or something. haven't try it myself yet, but i want to, once i get home.

Well, it's quite a short amount of time imo. Just let the program run and do something else in the meantime. For torrented DVDs you would have to wait for days (as long as there is only the original seeder), but most of the times (99%) it's well worth it. If I had, say, "instant" downloads I would never find the time to listen/watch the already downloaded goodies properly, so waiting a few hours/a couple days is not bothering at all.

Hehe, I was "listening" to this dvd (I mean, it was on whole I was doing other stuff) and my heart skipped a beat when the sound had that little "cut", but it's all good.

I'll never do anything with the information most likely, but then again, just maybe I'll get an itch to have some of your brand of "fun" someday.
