Happy Harcore

So, this evening has been spent listening to Happy Hardcore. I'm heartily recommending everyone listen to the radio things on www.happyhardcore.com. I've noticed a lot of you are into this dour indie nonsense, and I think you could do with a bit of cheering up. If it makes you any more comfortable, you can dance in a similar way as to how one might headbang.

Any love for the hardcore massive here?

OK, I'll listen to it while I'm working here.

I've got it from reliable source that Savage Clone is a big fan.

Anyway, at the moment 15-16 year old youth in holland are massively falling for what they're calling "jumpstyle". it's kind of hardcore-ish dance music, but slower than the good old gabber and it has an even more ridiculous dancing style than gabber had. Check youtube for examples... I think it's really taking off in belgium and germany(?) as well. Maybe britain's youth can still be saved... or maybe you could start the hype there as well.

as long as people are not waving their flickersticks at me, everything's gravy. happy hardcore for the nostalgic trip.

too bad i don't have a camera, i'd post the picture of my black and neon green beads bracelet i wear every day.

Toilet & Bowels 04.02.2007 06:25 PM

the first one of my friends at school to pass his driving test and get a car (and as such the person who ferried us all around everywhere) was well into happyhardcore so i was subjected to it on a frequent basis approximately 10 years ago, thankfully i haven't heard any in the ensuing time period.
i once heard john peel play a good happy hardcore song (the only good one i ever heard), can't remember who it was by, but it was one of the bigger happy hardcore names of the day, is there anyone with a name that has the word "whizz" in it?
those speeded up vocals wind me up no end, grime producers have a tendency to use them when they're trying to do an "emotional" track, god knows why as the sound terrible.

Happy Hardcore? And you're all 100% serious? Lord above..

ZEROpumpkins 04.03.2007 02:45 AM

I listen to Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy a lot.

that isn't happy hardcore

Style 04.03.2007 07:08 AM

i don't like my hardcore to be happy, the only hardcore electronica genres i like are speedcore, and breakcore, although breakcore might not be considered related to hardcore.

Gulasch Noir 04.03.2007 07:42 AM

I clicked on that link and found out that Happy Hardcore is something relatively new to my ears, as was the term itself. I'm a big fan of early - mid nineties eurodance and charts music in general though. One absolut favorite at the moment being this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=iXcQMZL6IA4

I'm sorry for the slight subject change by the way.

atsonicpark 04.03.2007 10:12 AM

Just listen to the WipEout soundtrack. It's not happy hardcore, but it's as happy as techno needs to be..

val-holla-ing 04.03.2007 12:43 PM

oh no...i know a few folks who were obsessed with this shit back when i was in high school. i think they're all dead now, though.
