Totally second that!It was a ritual for me.If i had problems with the silent spaces between the songs i would even record everything onto minidisc and then pour it onto tape. The cover designing is more enjoyable for cds but nothing beats the love and work that you put into making a mixtape.

I don't know what this means!!! Can you just email me?

I also thought that, if it's ok with everyone, I'll wait until I have all the tapes before distributing them. That'll probably mean a wait of a couple of weeks if you send one right away.

I thought I might try to send UK/Europe tapes to US & vice versa to save on cost. It also would seem a long-winded way of doing it if they had to cross the Atlantic twice!

Pookie, you said earlier on about including some money to cover postage. Any thoughts on how much? You're soon going to lose interest in being co-ordinator if it leaves you out of pocket!

As I said in a previous post, I thought I'd try to send tapes from UK/Europe to the US & vice versa. So anybody sending from the US needs to send money to cover postage to Europe, and anybody sending from UK/Europpe needs to send money to cover postage to the US. I'm going to the PO now to check rates, then if it's ok with everyone, I'll suggest an amount to include, depending on where you're posting from. I hope that all makes sense. I'll post as soon as I get back.

Pookie 07.21.2006 05:54 AM

WHAT TO INCLUDE IN YOUR PACKAGE:

From UK:
1) Your cassette.
2) Your username.
3) Your address.
4) £2

From Europe:
1) Your cassette.
2) Your username.
3) Your address.
4) 3 Euros

From US/Canada:
1) Your cassette.
2) Your username.
3) Your address.
4) $2

If you're in the UK, total cost of postage will be about £2.50, £2 shipping to US, 50p second class post to me. I would think it would be much the same from US/Canada.

Danny Himself 07.21.2006 08:26 AM

Alright. I'll try and mail it to you tomorrow.

gmku 07.21.2006 08:44 AM

I'll try to send my tape Monday or early next week.

This will be fun. Thanks for getting this going, Pookie.

Danny Himself 07.21.2006 08:46 AM

I'm suprised how much I restrained from using too many obvious choices in my tracks. You will be suprised, mystery reciever.

Danny Himself 07.21.2006 10:44 AM

I hate to double post, and bump, but;

I just posted my tape, first class. So you'll have it by tomorrow. But, the second I dropped the package into the mailbox, I realized...

I didn't put my £2 inside. It was still in my pocket. :(

Don't worry. If this works ok, you can pay me double next time!

Out of curiosity, how much did it cost first class?

Danny Himself 07.21.2006 10:52 AM

I don't know. I just had some first class stamps lying around. The padded envelope was 30p though.

gmku 07.21.2006 10:58 AM

I'm trying to think of some art for the cover. I'm thinking collage. With crosses and satanic images. And eyeballs.

Danny Himself 07.21.2006 10:59 AM

I covered mine in flourescent stickers.

Pookie 07.21.2006 11:01 AM

The artwork is the hardest, especially for people like me with little artistic talent. Got to give it a go though!

acousticrock87 07.21.2006 02:48 PM

Shouldn't we be sending $3.50-$4? £2 is not $2.

And I'm really starting to think someone will be disappointed in mine. I like mainstream, so there are a few songs on there by not-so-accepted-by-indie musicians.

Glice 07.21.2006 03:11 PM

I shouldn't've ignored this thread. I want to play this game.

So what? I don't think this should be about who can make the most obscure tape. This should be about what you like and want to share.

My idea is to try to send US tapes to UK/Europe & vice versa. This means that if you're in the US you'll pay more to send your tape to me in the UK, so I'll forward your tape within Europe at a cheaper rate. The idea was to keep costs down because I know a lot of people don't work & can't afford too much. I didn't want people excluded for financial reasons.

This idea may not work out because there may be more tapes from the US than Europe for example, but I figured it would even itself out.

If you're in the UK it will only cost about 50p to send the tape to me originally, therefore you pay more to get the tape to US/Canada.

I understand what I'm doing & you'll have to trust me if my logic makes no sense!
