Om - Pilgrimage.
First track sounds like 'Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun' by Pink Floyd.
Good album though.

Is that a rare pressing or something? Easily in my Top 25 albums ever.

well, if you listen to sy, polvo, unwound, etc. then they won't sound that out of it. but those chords are, considering they are playing in standard tuning.

yeah they have been clean since Jeremy Ward died in 2003, they are still not friendly with Jim Ward (Jeremy's cousin) and Tony Hajjar (of Sparta and ex-At The Drive-In) though. So they can't be that nice.

I can imagine that.

the best part about that is the priceless face on robbie williams, following them with a ballad. he had such panic even the crowd starts cheering him to feel better.

ha ha ha, HELL YEAH i remember that!!, he had to play Angels right after them, and he looked so shocked and like "what the fuck!?!?????", how the hell could anyone follow at the drive-in though!
great moment!

Everyneurotic 01.23.2008 06:39 PM

it was funny as hell! he even stopped singing to say "thank you" to the crowd. the only time i felt sympathy for mr. williams.

rumour has it, van morrison almost walks out in the middle of the taping because he got offended by atdi's performance.

Same could be said about Jim though, really.

Although, I thought they were on speaking terms these days?

There was a live special of his on the other night. It was fantastic. It's a sporadic chaos of instruments until everything just explodes and then it's just this beautiful landscape.

I gather alot of Sonic Youth fans would like Mingus?

since we're talking about atdi, i'll put my two cents in. i think people like cedric and omar better (aside from the fros) were because of their energy on stage. i will have to admit in a large setting it sounds like crap (the band sounded like crap in the video that was posted), but when atdi were small it didn't matter what they really sounded like, people just wanted to see the band moving and of course the fros.

anyway, i think vaya and their album before vaya were their best. i got into them around the time vaya came out so i guess that's why i think it's the best.

"Spent" by Wire

Norma J 01.24.2008 02:10 AM

You Am I: Convicts.

Yeah you’re beautiful but you’re fucked
Were you damned as such?
Vain lads clamour just for the hem of your drawers
Its no fake breeze
That I spend my days
Just pottering what I became the jewel in your cause
Through the smoke and the noise
What extraordinary poise

Oh, you’re sharp ain’t ya

If you say you love someone insane
Why would you want them to change
From the sweet high life
And those long sad goodbyes
Did we have to pay such a price - damn

Oh yeah you’re spirited but obsessed
Folks got burned for less
Loose change jangle on the bones in my chest
I ain’t the best, just a try-hard wreck
What a princess we created – damn
Through the blood and bone
Now I sit alone with delicious wine at home
I’d leave my turmoil discrete
If the noise didn’t sound so sweet
