St. Vincent - "Kerosene" [live at the Our Band Could Be Your Life 10th Anniversary Show, May 22, 2011]
Impossible to tire of unless you're dead or a Republican. |

Julia Shapiro. Some of the catchiest depression you've heard, at least since her last album...

melvins - gluey porch treatments
treatments alright. cleans the crap off your ears. very pleasant really. |
from vinyl that probably hasn't been played in 20+ years, the sleeve has some water damage because it's been in my basement for too long. but the album still plays fine it's not their best album though, some songs on this one are quite annoying actually |
^ Did it come with an eye mask?

hey Soup, have you ever heard about this album? Give it a try, some songs are amazing! I stumbled upon it by chance today, it's on the same label as Dark Developments, the album that Vic Chesnutt did with Elf Power

I most certainly have, bought it years ago. A supreme record. In fact -and this is just between you and me and the interwebs- I made a copy for my shrink, and she loved it. :) |

Listening to albums that were released today
Den svenska vreden by Fågelle I was hoping it would be a bit more cohesive listening experience as her live shows are. But it's still pretty good Complete Mountain Almanac by Complete Mountain Almanac Quote:
It's a bit boring to my ears, but that's mostly because I've been listening to doom metal for most of the week, so I'm no longer used to hearing music that lacks a fuzz pedal. Not sure if it's because of that but I liked the second half more than the first half. and the rest of the week: I downloaded a bunch of the streams that have been made from the Roadburn festival over the years. Psychic TV kicks major ass, bongripper and Bell Witch are fun. Amenra is awesome, Mike Scheidt solo a lot less than with Yob. |
Levitate - Fall. Particularly unhinged. Foken pish

The nicest part about this album is the sleeve, the songs on it are quite bad actually. The concept is nice but will be annoying when you hear it more frequently. Don't really understand the rave reviews, there's not much to rave about really |
Just listened to the new dEUS album, it's not as good as I wished for, which was released today. Too overproduced it sounds, only sort of liked the final song actually. when it comes to the female backing vocals, they should have listened to their fellow countrymen the Flying Horseman! |
Fuuuuck. I've fallen hopelessly in love with Primal Scream - XTRMNTR. When it came out in 2000 I gave it a couple of spins then left it to gather dust. Criminal!!! But all day yesterday it was playing during my record store shift. (Pills presented a few problems for the customers who wanted Carpenters Greatest.) I'll do the same today.

Disco Inferno - D. I. Go Pop |

this got released today: La Mémoire des Orages (mixed by Steve Albini) by Ogives interesting stuff, bit like post-rock + zappa + opera. |
|
Flux Information Sciences - Private/Public.
This might be one of the 20 greatest albums ever for me. I found it via Swans. (Gira produced.) I think it was Gira who said that listening to this album feels like being beaten over the head by enraged clowns. Apt! |
Sleep - Max Richter - 8cds - 8hrs24min.

DAVE LOMBARDO - RITES OF PERCUSSION
new! you can hear tito puente all over this hahaha a brilliant album https://www.ipecac.com/artists/davelombardo |
This Shame Should Not Be Mine by GGGOLDDD This Shame Should Not Be Mine - Live at Roadburn Redux by GGGOLDDD If these albums weren't released last year, they would be ranked on the top spots for album of the year for this year. Very heavy stuff but very very good. Read a review/interview on them to find out more. |

I thought this was about Milwaukee dance-pop group GGOOLLDD for a sec. |
Quote:
Ah no, this is another band. This is a metal band from the Netherlands. In the bandcamp notes for a previous album they are compared as sort of a mix between Godspeed You Black Emperor and Throwing Muses which is completely bonkers. On this album they sound different though, more industrial perhaps, They used to be named Gold. Probably they renamed themselves because there's another Dutch band that's named Goldband. These guys are much more famous over here, one of the most popular live bands apparently. |

Interesting! I will check it out. Sounds kinda dope. (Btw Milwaukee dance-pop band GGOOLLDD is also pretty dope for, y’know, a Milwaukee dance-pop band) |
W by Boris I've been listening to Boris' bandcamp releases all afternoon, from top towards bottom. It's very good, and the best thing is you never know what to expect: Some releases or single songs are heavy doom and/or metal, some are shoegaze, some are extremely poppy. This W album has the vocals all done by Wata! Will slowly go towards the bottom in the next couple of days, or weeks probably.... Then there's also some releases that are not on their bandcamp site, collabs with other artists such as Merzbow |

that sleeve is so cool! I also listened to Sofi Tukker's KEXP session today, you might like, it's got influences from I don't know Brasil or Portugal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJX6-Rd0zkA the singer resembles a bit like the girl on the sleeve not really my kind of music, but they're good anyway. |
one thing led to another and i ended here:
muy bueno... |

Bordando el manto terrestre by Maud the moth + trajedesaliva Quote:
maybe you Spanish speaking folks appreciate this album. I listened to it, because I like her (Amaya's, aka Maud the Moth) voice, and I saw her live with her other band Healthy Living last month at that festival. But I don't understand a word of Spanish and have no clue who that painter is. So I went back to listening to the older Bell Witch albums and liked that more ;) |
