Been absolutely in love with Pretty Girls Make Graves's album Good Health.
I did listen to the follow-up The New Romance, and, although much more subdued, still sounds pretty great so far. But Good Health, and their eponymous EP, knockouts. |

Even if NIN had done nothing other than the song Closer I would love them. |

“Closer” is a fucking miracle of pop music. Why? Because it’s the bounciest and catchiest song of the year it was released (it’s basically a disco track built on a minimalist expansion of a single beat) and because it’s damn near 7 minutes long, explodes into a noise-funk breakdown that spits in the very face of pop and alt-rock radio play and because it still managed to be one of the biggest songs of the ’90s. Goddamn right, if “Closer” was all NIN ever released, I’d love NIN. (P.s. “Runaway” by Kanye follows some of the same structural principals, expands and contracts and distorts in similar ways, and even further challenges the conventions of pop songcraft and was an even bigger hit, so... #shamelesskanyeplug) |
NIN is the second greatest band of all time.
After Deftones, of course <3 Now playing ♪: Dark Funeral - Where Shadows Forever Reign |

I fucking love, love LOVE that band. Speakers Push Air is just such a great life anthem song. I really think New Romance is a near perfect album also, personally (even with some of the "bad" lyrics, they just work on this album for me for some reason). Was lucky enough to see them play at a nice little Dallas club shortly before they disbanded, after they added that cute little keyboard gal. Such great energy. |
Bossanova, by the Pixies. My favourite of theirs, based on my extremely limited experience (I've listened to the first three once each).

Nah that’s the worst album from their classic era. It’s really a matter of Doolittle vs. Surfer Rosa for the top spots, and Bossa vs. Trompe for third place. You’ll see when you get older. :D P.S. is this everyone-is-older-than-you-are schtick still funny? Seems to be. ;) |

Has anyone ever played this the first time for someone, and that person wasn't immediately blown away? Isn't that weird? |
Fear of music is the only one by them that I I can stand. I think it's because I can hear Eno all over it. Helps counteract the David Byrne factor.

Never actually tried that. Then again, it's already a massively popular album. I kind of grew into it. The Great Curve and of course Once In A Lifetime brought me to it, then I slowly started appreciating the other tracks. I guess Houses In Motion and Seen And Not Seen hooked me onto it. Still have a huge soft spot for those two. I'm honestly not surprised it is as revered as it is. It delivers the toe-tappers, but it's also very cohesive in its atmosphere. |
Blonde Tongues - Blonde Tongues This album pairs well w my bulletproof coffee |

I mean, I love it. It is certainly not everyone's cup of tea. I had a friend that just totally hated on it. But like said, it is one of those near perfect ones to me. Some of the angular guitar work on it just really gets me going. Quote:
Such a classic album. Does anyone know much about Talking Heads live history? There is a live from Rome video on Youtube from around this album's time that I just love. It has both Bernie Worrell AND Adrian Belew together in the touring band. I have seen a few shows with one or the other, but this is the only one I think I have seen with BOTH on the same stage. How many years or tours did they share a stage together? I would love to seek out more of those shows. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wp2qhoop9U |

Spiritualized - “And Nothing Hurt” is growing on me, even though most of the songs sound exactly like at least one other Spiritualized song released this decade. :) |
