that song kicked ass
i hope they added a lil noise to it

whorefrost 03.21.2006 06:59 AM

despite my reservations, i'm still looking forward to a tour... although i have a feeling they won't make it to scotland again... still i'll be willing to travel unless the new ellpee totally sucks beyond redemption... shit, if i see them this year, it'll be my 7th SY gig....

Florya 03.21.2006 07:49 AM

Personally, I can't wait for the new album.
Really looking forward to it!

PAULYBEE2656 03.21.2006 08:31 AM

look, the new album will rock and the new album will have its dissers too. sy is sy, similar to the fall..... always a bit different but always the same.

maybe this is another era starting sound of sy, maybe it will be back to the old 80s style.. who knows and for once i DONT wanna hear an advance copy of it. im gonna wait till the release date and go for a long drive with it blasting fom my car.........

death on the highway revistited!!!!!!!

Hip Priest 03.21.2006 08:34 AM

It'll definitely have it's detractors, 'cause it's going for a more rock song element I think - a neew 'Dirty' is the impression I get, although I could be very wrong.

We could be lucky. THis decade has already given us Murray Street, I can't help but feel that another true classic is in the offing.

RdTv 03.21.2006 08:56 AM

release date ?

Is the release date going to be the 13th or the 6th of June?

A Thousand Threads 03.21.2006 08:58 AM

6th of June

damn, i´m so excited

i wonder what the cover will look like?

Hip Priest 03.21.2006 08:59 AM

They apparantly wanted te 6th, but one site last week said definitely the 13th.

RdTv 03.21.2006 09:01 AM

that's what I heard Hip Priest, I guess it doesn't matter, I mean, what's another week right???

Alex's Trip 03.21.2006 09:21 AM

I don't know think I like the name so much

toxic johnny 03.21.2006 09:24 AM

:) I'm not going to listen to it until it's released either... no advance copies or leaked downloads for me this time.

I can't wait to get it on vinyl and spin it on my turntable for the first time.

the title is ok. i know it'll be better after i've heard the album

Inhuman 03.21.2006 11:01 AM

There's a lot of talk about whether it's 13th or 6th. Thurston said 6 and MTV said 13. I wonder if it will follow the "Murray Street" style, or go back to their older sound.

Trasher02 03.21.2006 01:29 PM

I'm totally stoked to hear the Sonic Youth album!

rocky 03.21.2006 01:45 PM

kind of unanswerable at the moment, but I definitely wonder if lee will be on keys for any of this new stuff?

His organ playing on golden blue was righteous!

dazedcola 03.21.2006 02:09 PM

has it been determined how many songs each member wrote on the record ? I think i heard it was 1 lee song :(. Anyone know how many kim or thurston songs ? also does anyone know which new song is lee's ?

krastian 03.21.2006 02:41 PM

Yep.....I don't want to hear any of it until it's released either.

xpressway2yrskull 03.21.2006 03:28 PM

I read a while ago that they're going for the fairly standard 1 Lee song, 4 for Kim and 5 for Thurston. But then, I thought there were going to be 12 songs in total, does that mean 2 instr.? Maybe, that's just old info. I'm not sure.

A bit off topic, but what number album do you make this?
I'm never sure whether to count SYRs, The Whitey album etc. etc.

Fox 03.21.2006 03:34 PM

That's the first time I see the issue of a Sonic Youth album (SYR 6 excepted), cause I'm a young fan, so I can't be more excited, and the Thurston Moore acoustic set I heard (with Or, Pink Steam and the fantastic Do you Believe in Rapture) is... I can't wait.
