Question about F#F#F#F#EB tuning

Ok, I'm using that guitar tuning for composing with one of my guitars. But in the other I am trying to use F#F#DDGC. Have any of you ever use this combination? I mean, I am not a musician with all the theory but they sound kinda cool mixed up together. And I search if SY has ever use this combination and they hadn't. This guitar tuning (F#F#DDGC) exist or I've just made it???

I should correct myself, it's not a F#F#DDGC tuning, it's F#F#C#C#G#C#... it's kinda same, half tuning down of some of them.

Have anyone invented a really disonant tuning?!

tasteinmen 10.08.2009 07:02 PM

i think i invented GAD#D#A#A#

I've made 2 songs with that and I'm pleased with the dissonant, dark sound it produces

I'm gonna try it in this days. Thanks! :D

i am going to do a song in that tuning then. both the mistake and the correction. maybe a four-part guitar song to show it up. show it off. and show it some more. show it forever.

Back when I was a nuub at guitar I'd try to tune an acoustic in this fashion and ended up doing Sway's favorite - breaking the G string.

We made up a weird tuning in my band a little while back, but we never used it...

I don't remember it exactly...it had a lot of Bs in it; I can remember that much.

Kosako 10.09.2009 06:40 PM

Cool! Post them here!

Recently I tuned one of my guitars to the "default" Pavement tuning of DADABE to play some of their songs and think it's a really awesome, but simple, alternative tuning.

I used tp play in my own tunings a lot, but I stopped, and now I play in standard most of the time. The best tuning I came up with was G-A-D-A-D-D, which I've changed to Ab-Bb-Eb-Bb-Eb-Eb.

Thanks all of ya. By the way, the other day I was seeing the "20 years of SY" documentary and Thurston says that he started playing with Glenn after seeing a flyer of him seeking for guitarrist and he quote: "weird tuning". Which were those weird tuning he said Glenn was using? I was googling a lot for Glenn's guitar tunings but I found nothing. Anyone has any clue about it???

dasx 10.17.2009 12:21 AM

I use CGDGCD and DAD#ACF tunings. Both are quite simple, but good ones.
