See again its where you have over intellectualized it to the point of defeating your own original argument. You claimed Beatles were innovative and influential, i asked for some music theory based evidence combined with testimony from the influenced artists, yet now yyou say its all conjecture! I understand the principles of research which you are talking about but you forgot we're talking about art not the Congressional Budget Office ;)

I don't know.. looks like Kanye has a thing with lights. :o High Lights which is listed as a track on the new album will continue that series. I'm sure it's gonna be an epic song.

Yeah, I know. He obviously likes lights. Think of all the times they're mentioned in these songs... Still would be a good title for a best of.

I'm not hurting my argument that the Beates are influential by saying that music theory relies at least partially on non-scientific research.

maybe he's going to make like twelve "Lights" songs then compile them on an album as a song suite called All Of The "Lights." Ha!

Don't like the new Future mixtape.

Been a fan since Pluto. Really liked Honest, Monster and 56 Nights.. but now I'm starting to get bored of him.

Oddly, I listened to DS2 again the other day and didn't think it was terrible. I mean, I didn't think it was great... nowhere near. But I got trough several tracks before I switched it to something more interesting.

No you're hurting it by then saying that there is no objective way to measure influence. Im not pretending the theory is 100% but what science is even near that? Music theory helps us understand the underlying structures of music in a scientific way and then we can use that to extrapolate evidence to explain influence. No different then color theory in the visual arts. Hence why i said you are over intellectualizing it. I am not in anyway claiming that it is 100% definitive rather i am saying that IF we want to evaluate influence or innovation THAT is where we should look for evidence and NOT merely in our music critic opinions. See, is that so hard?

No it's not hard. I'm not having difficulty understanding anything you're saying, and I'm sure you're not having any trouble with what I'm saying. We obviously come from different academic backgrounds, and speak overlapping but still different languaes. I thought you were saying that it was somehow possible to make an actual scientific case out of this. And while I do think and know that the Beatles are influential, I wouldn't ever try to back that scientifically.

So, I'm sure we're both right about a lot of stuff. I'm good here. You good? We good?

Also, did you effing listen to "I Want you (she's so heavy)" or not, because I'm really interested in what you think of that particular song.

Oh hell no.

But I do think it makes it easier for an artist to have a wide-ranging impact. Look at Kanye and Kendrick. They're accepted more readily by more people than folks named after gun models or drugs. It's good branding for crossover artists when your name doesn't restrict you to a genre (sorry, Ghostface Killah)

I like DS2 but I can totally understand why someone wouldn't.

I have Evol now. I haven't listened to it yet, except for previewing some tracks.
Also got the new Wiz.

Any news on THE ALBUM that's supposed to be out in 3 days but still doesn't have a confirmed title or cover?

Part of me worried we ain't gonna get an album, and that he'll just do the MSG show. Fuh!!

It's coming. Kanye tweeted that the acronym of the final title is TLOP and he's letting people guess the full title.

Peyton Manning had a press conference where Snoop Dogg asked him a question he replied, "well, snoop..."
