JULY 4th at BATTERY PARK

Anyone able to attend this show?? It's one of my dream pairings - Sonic Youth with the Feelies opening. Does anyone know how many of the original Feelies will be in the lineup?? Probably Glenn Mercer, Anton Fier and ??? I wouldn't expect Bill Million to be there, but maybe Dave Weckerman and Brenda Sauter???

GAWD, I would love to be there, but I'm in charge of our neighborhood block party in Cincinnati on that day. Maybe I'll force everyone to listen to DDN and Crazy Rhythms during the party....

if you can attend, I'd really recommend it... What a great bill.

I love them both and have never seen the Feelies live....

I will be enjoying from the comfort of my own home by watching the many youtube videos that will no doubt make their way to a server near you.

I saw the Feelies three times back in the day. I loved every minute of it.

ok here is the problem with "free tickets" Im sure it's common sense but maybe it bears pointing it out, anything that's free you get a fuckload of people lining up just because it's an EVENT. Case in point- 77 Drummers last year.

This Battery Park 4th of July show, which they do every year, if I remember right past few years you have to register on the website and then go down to WFC to pick up your tickets. You think a lot of people went who didnt give a fuck about who was playing but just because it seemed like a fun day out on the 4th? And conversely, lot of people (SY fans?) are gonna get shut out. Also if you're coming out of town, you're shut out. Unless you are gonna go to WFC at some earlier date just to pick up your tickets. And capacity here is not huge, maybe 500-800? Im not sure.

Ok maybe I will leave it at that, maybe this year they will have different way of distributing tickets. Anyway, I would suggest if you really want to go, keep checking that river to river site often.

neptuneg 05.01.2008 04:33 PM

The site has been updated
Don't see a method of getting tickets, however.

canvasseamonkey 05.02.2008 02:10 PM

WFMU just posted....
River To River, who in conjunction with Downtown Alliance are putting on the free July 4th Sonic Youth/Feelies concert at Battery Park (with special support from WFMU!) have now announced that you may sign up as of today for their email blasts on their R2R Wire page regarding all of their events. The bottom line, however, is that ticket reservations for this July 4th event are hitting on THURSDAY, JUNE 12th at 12:00 NOON at their site. Once your reservation is in, you'll be instructed on how to pick up your passes before July 4th. They are putting a limit of two tickets per person during this reservation process.

Ripchord 05.02.2008 07:57 PM

Does anyone know how many tickets will be available, how quickly it will sell out?

I'll get someone to get me my tickets at noon (I'll be at school). But I have friends who want to go too, but I don't know if they'll be able to go online until 3...

neptuneg 05.02.2008 08:28 PM

i'm worried that they well sell out quickly

but who knows...

Greetings Facebook fans of WFMU!

As you might already know, we're celebrating 50 years on the air on July 4th
with a free Sonic Youth / The Feelies concert at Battery Park in New York
City.

The show is free, but there will be tickets and we expect the tickets to
disappear in about one hour. SO here's what to do:

Sign up NOW at River 2River's Wire Page for your email alerts:

http://www.rivertorivernyc.com/alerts/

But we do happen to know that reservations will go live on the River to
River site on June 12th at NOON. There's a limit of two tickets per person,
and the they'll be gone fast. After your reservation is in, you'll be given
info on where/when to get your passes (to be picked up BEFORE July 4th).

This show is being presented by Downtown Alliance and River To River, with
special support from WFMU
