in spanish you write questions with upside down question mark at beginning, and exclamations with upside down exclamation point at begging so you know what type of sentence it is. he put DIOS MIO between spanish exclamation points.

haven't seen Wonder Woman yet.

I have seen Alien Covenant / which was brilliant. lot of Alien fans do not like it and I agree to some point that he is kinda loosing it with pre sequel plot leaving the door open for another one maybe two more films and left even more questions unanswered what is the story with the "engineers" and did not even bother with helmets and stuff on a different planet this time, while xenomorph could be seen back at the end but it looked kinda funny/too much rendering (compare to the other aliens in this particular movie). yeah he likes his alien franchise alright... but the visuals. man just fantastic.

I wonder how his new Blade Runner is going to be like.

yeah and I had a chance to go to see new Mummy so I went. nice adventurous fairy tail. lady behind me fell asleep. it was so funny.

We'll hang ourselves tomorrow. Unless Gadot comes.

ha!

this page is killing me because I haven't seen Alien: Covenant or WW yet and I'm dying to see both. I *almost* saw WW on Thursday but got home late and felt tired and didn't feel like spending $ so I watched something free instead. Um. Oh! It was Split. Which I enjoyed a lot actually.

But yeah> I'm dying to see WW. Soon.

ha ha ha ha-- it's what rob said-- the opening exclamation. to me it looks different. see if you can tell

¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ iiiiiiiii

anyway, the movie was good but in itself not THAT good. fact is 75% of that movie's glory belongs to the protagonist, who is simply an otherwordly creature to behold. a bit of a religious experience, this one, and in the place i was whenever they had her closeups or whatever you could hear a pin drop-- the whole audience was agape-- women, men, children, we all worshipped.

before some fool says "i don't want to here about your penis"-- this is not about penises or pornography or arousal, really-- it was more like beholding an ideal rather than a person. so a bit like church, really, if there were any actual gods in church. camille paglia was right all along.

as for the rest, yes it was a good movie and well directed, though maybe a bit too long so i had to go piss at some point (they serve beer), and while they butchered greek mythology and there were some problems with the cinematography (3D movies are just too fucking dark, and i don't watch 3D cuz i get headaches) , it was a good job overall with a good mixture of drama, humor, action, high-minded preaching, etc. pleased to see that a woman did the job better than the many bros who supposedly rule the action genre (lol michael bay).

and i didn't mind the scenes where the action was slowed down and/or frozen-- for one thing it gave us all a greater chance to ogle in awe. and besides the visual glory it made sense visually as it sorta looked like a comic book panel---the frozen frames are precisely what a comic artist would draw. so all good and it was not abused/overused for my standards.

plus extra points for one of the sidekicks looking like franck ribéry-- i can't post a photo here cuz this will erase my scribbling (it happened earlier) but google the guy. ha ha ha.

This is by far the most important thing you touched on and it needs to be addressed immediately.

THE NEW BLADE RUNNER IS GOING TO BE IN-FUCKING-CREDIBLE. Nothing but talent in this one (Leto, who hopefully doesn't show his face much). I would trust Dennis Villeneueva with my fucking life at this point, and Ryan Gosling is one of the best there is.

Blade Runner 2049 will be so much better than Mad Max: Fury Road that it will re-define SF reboots/long-overdue sequels even more than the original Blade Runner defined cyber-noir.

It's going to be like a cool kid version of The Force Awakens in terms of the hype it generates, and unless I'm way off base, I think it it will be a better and more interesting film by far.

It will be nominated for Best Picture... this is my early prediction.

I mean, look at the talent here: It's directed by Dennis Villanueva, who killed it with ARRIVAL. It's executive produced by Ridley Scott, who usually kills it when he's not, like, "butchering it" if you know what I mean. Ryan Gosling is great. Harrison Ford, great. Robin Wright, great. Score by Jóhann Jóhansson... I'd normally be really nervous about one of my all time favorite films being re-visited — outside of the the original source material — after so many years, but fuck it, because every sign is pointing to this thing being freaking amazing.

It's going to be the most important SF move since... fucking BLADE RUNNER BITCHES!!!

I haven't seen Alien: Covenant OR Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 yet. Anyone seen Guardians? Is worth it?

I think greenlight's comments about Alien: Covenant are the most positive I've come across. Not ALL of it has been negative, but I'm quite sure that's the first time I've seen the word "brilliant" thrown around.

noisereductions 06.13.2017 09:17 AM

most people hated Prometheus as well. But I loved it. So I'm not too worried.

Guardians 2 was great. I mean, the complaint will be "more of the same." But "the same" is great. So whatever. I laughed so much - these films are just pure fun.

And back on topic, last night I watched

Severian 06.13.2017 11:24 AM

NR: Wonder Woman is so good. Like, wow. As far as "classic" superhero tales go (e.g., not intentionally genre-busting deviations like Deadpool, Kick-Ass and perhaps even Logan to some degree), it's fucking GOOD. Like, seriously.

Best movie DC has put out since the Nolan years.

Although Sumbols raises a good point that Gal Gadot is utterly divine, an absolutely angelic thing to behold, and not in a perverse kind of way. Not even solely her looks. It's her cadence and grace and smile and accent and timing and everything. She's just incredible. So I guess it could well be that the movie is utter shit, and everyone is just too hypnotized by Gadot to notice or care.

But I don't think so.

Watch it bra.

noisereductions 06.13.2017 11:33 AM

oh I never needed convincing. Go back like 6 months in this thread. I was saying then that WW looks like it'll be the best comic book movie of 2017. I still think it will be. I've just had a very busy schedule since it hit theaters sadly. But it's super high on my priorities.

h8kurdt 06.13.2017 12:56 PM

The sooner superhero films die a slow death the better.

Looking forward to new Aliens. That's because I am going to assume it sucks shit, that way when it doesn't, I'll be pleased. Clever, no?

ilduclo 06.13.2017 05:28 PM

it's not BAD, just too much Michael Fassbinder, but then, that's everything, innit?

I'm quite sick of them too, but WW is different. This is a character that should have been one of the first to get a movie, perhaps after only Superman and Batman. Yet, it took 77 freaking years, AND the most superhero-dense cinematic environment in the history of the universe.

I agree, we don't need to see X-Men part 15. We don't need to see Spider-Man ver. 3.1 (though Homecoming does look kinda fun!). We don't need five Avengers movies, or trilogies of every D-list hero in Marvel's canon.

But this is different.

You do yourself a disservice by writing WW off before you see it because of your (very understandable) superhero fatigue. It's sitting at 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. That only happens for the kind of superhero movies that actually qualify as good movies in some way. Deadpool was a good comedy. Logan was a good horror-drama. The Dark Knight is one of the defining fucking cinematic achievements of our time, obviously ( ), and Wonder Woman is a glorious kind of warped fairy tale. The words "Wonder Woman" are never uttered.

It's also timely. The world need a good piece of populist feminist fiction right now. At least, the US does. I'll bet Trump thinks it's "overrated," aka terrifying.

I can't decide if he's a good actor or a tool. He was great in A Dangerous Method. He was disappointing in X-Men (but maybe that was just the big stupid mask and general terribleness of the movies). Creepy in Prometheus. And for some reason he's in Assassin's Creed too, cuz video game movies are what serious actors do.

noisereductions 06.13.2017 10:56 PM

RE: Superhero fatigue... I still don't get the concept of "something that I don't like, other people enjoy... so it should not be a thing!"

That's why I don't watch them. :D

However my problem is that all year, every year it's rammed down your fucking throat. You can't escape it. I also think the damage it's done to cinema is massive. Worst thing is it's gonna happen/is happening with Star Wars.

noisereductions 06.14.2017 07:17 AM

I don't know. There's plenty of stuff out there that I have no interest in. Those Pirates movies come to mind. And I'm sure I could view them as rammed down my fucking throat. But I just take a queue from Paul Anka, and just don't look.
