Perfect From Now On, the truly forgettable record

I've listened to this Built to Spill album several times these past few weeks and I swear by the time the record is over I can't remember a single thing about it. It's like some odd micro cosmological void. I can't remember single a note or a single word. I swear it's been about a minute since the last listen and it's like the last half hour never happened.

And it's not like it was a horrible record or anything. It's not forgettable in a 'well that record has really boring chops and not a single song is interesting so I don't care if I ever remember it' way. I have a memory of liking it, and enjoying it. At least I think I do.

I'm not even reminded of what the songs sound like when I listen to it again. It's not like I get to track two and think to myself "Oh I remember that now." It's a completely fresh listen every time. And these are back to back listens. Sure I've forgotten records I haven't listened to in a few years or whatever, certainly not in the span of minutes or hours. I've never had anything like this happen.

Anyone experience this kind of forgetfulness?

Well this record has songs with multiple sections to them so its easy to forget how it all goes in comparison to the tighter songs on every other bts record....maybe youre just taking too much drugs or not enough.

I haven't listened to it in months and yet I could hum any song on it. Maybe you had a diving accident at one time?

I must agree with Derek and Madcap.... I love this album, definitely one of my favorites ever. I find new things to love about it each time, hence why it's such an enjoyable repeated listen.

Swirlies originally were somewhat forgettable for me, which is crazy since I love them now. Weird to think about it now as I type it, actually.

good band, great record, i'll admit it flows in a weird way where nothing truely stands out, it's easy to treat as background music.. another band I really like, joan of arc, is the same way.. it just has this flow, it feels effortless in how all the parts flow, and it's pleasant usually so it's easy to just put on and zone out. If you actually pay attention to it, it'll blow your mind.

Yeah. I really like this one.

Well I remember liking it. But I couldn't tell you why. I'm sure there are drums and guitars on there. I like There's Nothing Wrong With Love quite a bit. I can remember that one.
