Yeah...well...boohoo to you!

porkmarras 12.23.2006 01:33 PM

Sure.

Toilet & Bowels 12.23.2006 11:17 PM

if you'd seen them live you'd agree with us, marras.

Bal 12.24.2006 05:57 PM

nnck? why? NoNeckBluesBand?
tell me im stupid but i dont get this abbreviation.

Gulasch Noir 12.24.2006 06:22 PM

I think I read they came up with this abbreviation themselves. Maybe they just thought NNCK sounds cooler, than NNBB?

Gulasch Noir 12.24.2006 06:37 PM

Yes, it does sound cooler. But not "En En Ce Key", but NNNNNCK.

I only really like a few, particular songs though. Except for "Birth Of Both Worlds". That one I like as a whole. I don't know why.

porkmarras 12.26.2006 09:50 AM

Abbreviations never sound cool.I managed to download some more stuff by them and it's good.Still,i wouldn't tag them as the best.I love the enthusiasm though,it's something that is missing from a lot of fanboys.

Letters from the Earth, Porky. It's like a bunch of spastics hearing rave music and trying to re-create it from broken memories with stones and sex. There are patches of less-greatness within their catalogue, so be careful which record you get your opinion from

pokkeherrie 12.26.2006 07:11 PM

to me they're just really a band you need to see live to get the enthusiasm i think... just like with sunburned. i like nearly all that i've heard from nnck on record, but none if it really blows me away.
but when you catch them on stage and they have a good night (like at ATP) then they're quite possibly the best band in the world...although sonicl won't agree i'm sure.

pokkeherrie 12.27.2006 07:10 AM

i wasn't referring to the stage antics either, but just when you see them playing their instruments and doing what they're doing. it sometimes takes about 10-15 minutes to get in to it, but then they can suddenly hit you with an amazing groove or wonderful rhythm.

jon boy 12.27.2006 07:21 AM

i find music like theirs extremely inspiring in all kinds of ways. it makes me see whats possible if that makes any sense?

Yes,one of the tunes i've downloaded sounds exactly like that.As pokkeherrie already pointed out,it might take a while before it hits you in the face and you embrace it.It could be that i find their music rather sketchy in parts and i normally go for a full blast kind of electroshock(well, not always of course).

jon boy 12.27.2006 07:27 AM

thats true^ its like listening to a lot of that music. at first it doesnt make much sense and then by the end you find yourself completely lost in it and your body moves involuntatrily to the groove. a lot of bands do that to me, hand of the man, vibracathjederal orchestra etc.

Vibracathedral Orchestra are the perfect example of a band that i didn't fully immerse into till i saw them live and they swept me away.I was lucky to see Ashtray Navigations live before i've heard them on record as they condensed that full blast so perfectly.

pokkeherrie 12.27.2006 08:09 AM

ah yes, vibracathedral orchestra is another one that i didn't really get into until seeing them live.

speaking of which, does anyone know what are they up to at the moment? as a group i mean. because neil campbell seems to be playing just with astral social club nowadays, mick flower with sunburned, united light and his own band, bridget hayden mostly solo....

porkmarras 12.27.2006 08:20 AM

I haven't been able to track down any relevant news, yet, but in the meantime here's some lovely posters:

I know I'm in a minority of (probably) one, but I didn't "get" NNCK at all when I saw them at ATP. It just seemed like a load of unfocused art-wank.

porkmarras 01.06.2007 03:31 PM

Hmmm....i'm changing my mind a bit about this band.I'm listening to 'Witch' and it really is a fantastic track.

Gulasch Noir 01.08.2007 03:29 PM

Witch and Play your Play are the two hits of Intonomancy.
