Recommend a cake for Pookie

Pookie recently stated that he was going to spend a weekend listening to music and eating cake. He later reported back that he had indeed listened to some music, but made no mention of cake eating, and I fear this may be because he did not know what type of cake to eat.

So, please recommend some cakes for Pookie to eat. If you can also recommend a genre of music, or even a particular recording, to go with the cake, that may be an even greater help.

I recommend belgian buns to go with hardcore rave.

I think that the decadent richness of an Italian Cream would perfectly compliment some Norwegian Black Metal.

Just remember, pooks, like all hausfraus, you deserve this "me' time.

:)

Custard tart. A great all rounder.

caramel apple cheesecake

It's true, I did neglect the cake aspect of my music and cake day.

I've recently discovered the joy of the pain au raisin. I've avoided it in the past because of the raisins. I have trouble with the texture of a raisin in a cake but lately I've been able to overcome my anti-raisin prejudice.

I like the pain au raisin because even though it is a pain (bread) it is much denser and cake-like than other pains (au chocolate for example).

Even though it went well with some technoise, I found that some of the music was too fast and made me speed up my cake eating. This meant that often I was still chewing whilst my hand was forcing another piece of pain into my mouth. My conclusion was that always listen to slow music when into a cake or a pain because they should be savoured and not eaten like a gluttonous glutton.

"If you have found cake, eat only enough for you, lest you have your fill of it and vomit it."
Proverbs 25:16

The Bible is obsessed with gluttony. My theory is that it started off as a kind of middle ages Gillian McKeith style diet book but other stuff got added over the years and dimwits started believing all that other stuff (the fairy tales) and the original concept of the book became completely overwhelmed.

i too sufer from mild raiscism. i don't like them except in a fruit cake.

my wife made a Banana and Chocolate Chip cake yesterday, i ate it while watching the football so can't comment on suitable music, but i expect something gentle would be appropriate. like Chet Baker, or Spiritualized?

This is a good suggestion. You can't beat a good custard tart.

I've never had caramel apple cheesecake but I love cheesecake and I love cooked apples so this is a winning suggestion.

Nice to know there's a fellow raisinist.

I made a chocolate banana cake a couple of weeks ago. It was meant to just be a banana cake but I bought a large bar of fruit and nut not realising it was dark chocolate fruit and nut. It was inedible on its own so I melted it down and added it to the banana cake mixture. You can have that recipe idea on me.

Strangely enough people around me usually do go crazy.

And you need to find out more about cakes. You don't need to read a book, just eat them.

floatingslowly 04.26.2012 11:51 AM

Have you considered PIE?

I have. It's far superior.

blunderbuss 04.26.2012 12:19 PM

If you want to talk about pies, start your own bloody thread!

floatingslowly 04.26.2012 12:39 PM

Perhaps you don't know your target audience. Afterall, what is cheesecake, but a poorly named PIE?

Winning, he says; and a pie at that!

At the end of the day, I think we all just want Pookie to be happy. At least, I know I do.

Pie: A baked dish of fruit, or meat and vegetables, with a top and base of pastry.

Cheesecake has no pastry. It is not a pie. It's a cake (the clue's in the name:o ).

floatingslowly 04.26.2012 03:26 PM

Cheesecake: the separate crust, the soft filling, and the absence of flour prove that cheese'cake' is indeed, a PIE.

I recommend you have a nice slice of pumpkin pie, Justin Bieber and a healthy dose of 'suck it'.

:)
