Two months ago a radio DJ aired Kicking a Pigeon, by The Mabuses.
Although I knew that song then (1991-92), it never really made me want to listen to the album. Still, when I heard that song again, I downloaded it on eMule. The guitar parts were so beautiful, and the lyrics so odd that I looked for the record, bought it, and it's been there with me for 4 weeks now. |

Good call. Have you got the extended version with the EP included? I haven't but I'm going to track it down - Margaret's Injection is immense. |

Thanks! No, I havent got the extended version either. I just got into the Kitchens of Distinction thanks to the allmusicguide review of Lift To Experience's "The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads" (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p...0:dc63trorkl1x ). |
I'll read that now.
If you're on Last.FM, all of the Kitchens' songs are playable in full for previews @ 128kb/s. Just search the band name. I really want to check out their early EPs now! |

^Spiderland is a nice album. Funny enough I'm listneing to the band which I heard about Slint from years ago. I'm listening to bits of the new Silverchair album that's being streamed on their myspace. The orchestral parts of this song, If You Keep Losing Sleep, sounds like something that would be in a Burton film.

Sundazed 180gm mono reissues of:
Blonde on Blonde, Highway 61 Revisted, and Bringing it all Back Home If you're into these albums at all, I cannot recommend strongly enough that you try to pick up these amazing reissues. Aside from the tiny bar code on the back cover, the album packaging is authentic down to the era-correct labels--and the sound is incredible, a lot gutsier sounding than any other version I've heard. Supposedly this (the mono mix) is how these albums were meant to be heard when they first came out--stereo was done as an afterthought to a growing trend. If you've never heard them in true mono, it's almost like hearing them for the first time. |
Jay Reatard- Blood Visions
I've listened to this album about 20 times in the last 36 hours. The best modern punk album I've heard in ages!! Think buzzcocks and early wire. |
