gmku, have you heard this? Recently came out on Fantasy:

gmku 08.27.2008 11:18 AM

No! Looks very interesting, though. Is it good?

Wow, Coltrane & Adderly together! And Bill Evans. Man, that's gotta be good. What are the dates of the sessions?

atsonicpark 08.27.2008 11:22 AM

Fuck On The Beach..

noisereductions 08.27.2008 11:25 AM

The cover is deceiving, son. It's really like a compilation of tracks by the different players... I'll see if I can dig up more info...

Sides of Blue: The Jazz Greats Who Played on Kind of Blue

Review by Michael G. Nastos, All Music Guide
Excepting ringmaster Miles Davis, this collection featured the artists who accompanied Davis on the groundbreaking Kind of Blue album, evoking the same kind of spirit, verve, and mellow approach that signified the trumpeter's magnum opus. Three selections by Cannonball Adderley with Bill Evans are the centerpiece, but John Coltrane's "Theme for Ernie" and especially Trane with Tadd Dameron for the quintessential "On a Misty Night" set this tone definitively. The remainder of the material is pleasant enough, though Adderley's "Winetone" is a bit obscure. Not from the Fantasy/Prestige labels, the missing identifier, the classic Blue Note label take of "Autumn Leaves," stands out like a sore thumb in its absence. It is good to remember and honor this era of modern jazz, but overemphasizing it seems to be the norm rather than the exception from here on.

Damn, that's disappointing. I thought this was some lost treasure, some tapes somebody dug up of all these guys together playing. Okay, never mind.

Fugazi - End Hits

Not one I normally go to when I'm in the mood for Fugazi, and I remember why. It's mediocre Fugazi. But that's still a lot better than a lot of shit.

A favorite of mine in Ra's discography. One of only three (that I know of) solo piano recordings. Very, very good stuff.

TREES is a great album. I may be the only one (am I?) that prefers it over PSYCHIC HEARTS.

acousticrock87 08.28.2008 12:19 PM

I prefer Psychic Hearts, but I think if I gave Trees enough proper listening I would like it more. I just never get around to it.
