Jarboe is selling "vintage" CDs for $50 on etsy.

btw, spotify must've read my post because the service became available the day after.

And besides all that Rob says, I like vinyl because I put down the needle and I'm listening to music. With Cd and computer you have to wait for everything to boot up and load up and god forbid there is any kind of driver fucking conflict.

Now my receiver is effing with me, I guess i'm going to have to replace it, There must be some kind of short, it just kind of goes zzz and goes silent for a few moments, no consistency though.

anything that forces the listener to sit and listen, instead of a readily available fast forward or skip button, is cool with me.

so many great songs are tossed off as "filler" by people with no patience and a desire to only hear the hits.

I like the way that LP's sort the music into two "suites", and if a band is thoughtful about it, and many were and are, they create two distinct sides of music, to be enjoyed.

I also like the extra images and stuff on the sleeves.

pretentious much?

put two cds in the microwave, one sitting on top of the other. place on high for about 30 seconds and witness a miniature lighting storm.

ps don't use microwave again.

SpaceCadetHayden 02.24.2013 02:18 PM

i own exactly 3 cds. these include TLC's crazy sexy cool, Madonna's Like A Prayer, and Prince's 1999.

I was looking at the 16 boxes of Cdrs last night after having to move them across the room due to water dripping in through the ceiling. I would not be against moving them all onto a harddrive. 800MB per disc, or on average 600 MB, or say 3 Cds per 2 GB's - 100 cdrs per box, like 33 gb x 16 box - 528 GB? Thats seems too litte...

the cost of storage has gone down enormously in recent years (except for the year after the south-asian tsunami), you're talking over 1/2 a terabyte which was a mythical amount of storage 10 years ago, so no, it's not little.

get rid of those boxes before the rats move into them.

Rob Instigator 02.25.2013 03:29 PM

you can get a 1 TB external hard drive for like $99 now. Hold all your shit.

why not? mine still works after doing this
just open the door and let it air out for a bit
and why 30 seconds? you dont even need 5 seconds to do this

lets see what happens when you microwave 15 of them
