Least favorite of SY's "critically-acclaimed trio" of albums?

EVOL never did much for me; it's got some really great songs on it, but it seems much more inconsistent than Sister and DDN.

sarramkrop 08.01.2009 10:18 AM

Daydream Nation

GrungeMonkey 08.01.2009 10:24 AM

so hard! I'll have to go with sister I think. But those three are all of such high quality from start to finish.

gualbert 08.01.2009 10:27 AM

I don't enjoy EVOL much, except Marilyn Moore.

SuperCreep 08.01.2009 10:46 AM

EVOL has some really minor off spots, but it's sill very near a perfect album for me.

Kannibal 08.01.2009 10:56 AM

can't understand why daydream nation is interesting.

EVOLghost 08.01.2009 11:17 AM

I didn't want to...but I voted Sister.

automatic bzooty 08.01.2009 11:46 AM

as much as i like it, sister.

Shifty Prophet 08.01.2009 11:50 AM

I voted Daydream Nation. I like the album, just not as much as Sister or EVOL

Sonic Youth 37 08.01.2009 12:01 PM

I'm going with Sister on this one. aside from Schiz, Catholic Block, SS, and White Kross, the songs really don't work for me. EVOL, while lacking AMAZING!, standout songs, is a solid album when taken as a whole.

godsfavoritedog 08.01.2009 12:02 PM

Sister I think ... but somehow I can't bring myself to vote. It just seems so wrong,

Dead-Air 08.01.2009 12:03 PM

Evol is my favorite of the three. While Bad Moon Rising is my favorite Sonic Youth album hands down (my favorite music album hands down, actually!) I really was impressed by the group for doing something completely different as a follow up. Sister is the "Sister" album to Evol, and Daydream Nation is a solidifying of that direction.

I hate voting for "least favorite" things though. Such a silly way to look at great art. Which is worse Guernica or Blue Nude? I prefer to focus on favorites rather than dwelling on what I "don't like as much."

dionysusundone 08.01.2009 12:32 PM

Daydream Nation. BMR through Sister is my favorite run of albums from anybody, and I don't see why Daydream is supposedly so much better.

DanielCarlson 08.01.2009 12:59 PM

Sister probably, though it's really fucking awesome. EVOL is their best album and Daydream Nation could be a little bit more perfect than Sister. But it's hard.

dirty bunny 08.01.2009 01:23 PM

daydreaming days in a daydream nation. I think it's one of my least-listened to SY albums.

joe11121 08.01.2009 02:08 PM

Sadly, I voted for Sister. I love all 3, DDN is my favourite.

Byron Orpheus 08.01.2009 02:14 PM

DDN

DDN has the best lyrics of, well, any SY release in my opinion. There's a thematic consistency and a poetic, insightful beauty that's rare, not only for SY, but in rock music in general.

Derek 08.01.2009 02:16 PM

Sister because it actually has one or two songs I don't like.

jerf 08.01.2009 02:47 PM

evol. sister has pipeline on it, and that is one of my favorite songs. i cant vote for sister solely on that fact.

sonic sphere 08.01.2009 05:21 PM

i voted for evol. reluctantly.
