"NYC Ghosts & Flowers" ...in diagrams!

old link or a new thing?
http://www.markallencam.com/syreview.html

from that page

"Click on each song title below to see it's diagram:
1. Free City Rhymes time: 7:30
2. Renegade Princess time: 5:47
3. Nevermind (what was it anyway?) time: 5:33
4. Small Flowers Crack Concrete time: 5:10
5. Side 2 Side time: 3:32
6. Stream X Sonik Subway time: 2:48
7. NYC Ghosts & Flowers time: 7:47
8. Lightnin' time: 3:50

Maybe you are a big fan of Sonic Youth like I am, maybe you're not - I don't know. Since I am always excited about a new SY project, I decided to review their new Geffen CD, "NYC Ghosts & Flowers" by using little mathmatical diagrams only. I will try to convey how each song sounds and the way it progresses using only lines and drawings and directional charts and stuff like that. I'll try to show how the song is constructed so that maybe someone who doesn't know the music could look at my charts and play the song by just using that. It's all up for interpretation. A lot of "freaky" composers like Karlheinz Stockhausen and John Cage have put their compositions down on paper in this way. Images might take a while to load (I wanted to keep them their original size)"

Old link, but new to most, I'm sure.
Good stuff, nonetheless.

Yep, you guys are right, after a while I recalled seeing this already a good amount of time ago... but as you said, it's quite nice.

I'd be interested to see others try and do this for their favorite sonic youth songs/albums.

If anyone wants to give it a shot and upload their drawings..

Yeah, he put that up on alt.music.sonic-youth back in 2000. It's fun to revisit, though.

i had never heard of those "diagrams"--they are pure lunacy, and i like them!
