Emil Beaulieau: America's Greatest Living Noise Artist

any other fans?
just came across a great live review

Everyneurotic 04.07.2007 05:59 PM

he is very important and good, but he's by no means my favorite.

golden child 04.08.2007 08:14 PM

yeah! ive seen him live twice and both times were marvelous and blew away anything he has recorded. super nice guy who has been very supportive to me. check out the moonlight in vermont lp that ecstatic peace just reissued. also suggest the two cdrs here: www.obscurica.com... specifically BIGFOOT.

i'm fortunate enough to hail from lowell massachusetts and have seen rrron perform many, many times at his store and in various venues in the state.

truly an anomaly, one of the best noise artists i've ever seen perform. his shtick is completely original, he's such an important part of keeping the noise "scene" coherent for over 20 years. his modesty is perhaps unfortunate in that he is largely unknown to even "noise" fans.

RRRon Lessard may have once been the US King of Noise, but I feel that the crown now belongs to Dominik Fernow. I've seen Prurient live here in the UK, and his performance was both impressive and hilarious.

he is good. when i saw him he didnt actually play any noise because his equipment broke or something so he did a ten minute improvised spoken word thing instead, it was ace.

golden child 04.09.2007 05:33 PM

the rey poo set?! i just saw crank sturgeon do a killer interpertation of that a few nights ago...

prurient is only just starting to get good in my eyes. the recent stuff with heavy synth is really killer. the older feedback driven stuff was pretty boring and i never really got the hype.

Everyneurotic 04.13.2007 09:47 AM

yes, i don't get why everyone is so hung up on prurient, most of his stuff is by the numbers and predictable and not that harsh.

his hospital label (when i went to the store, it was closed, i think he was touring so i can't tell) is pretty good, though.

tesla69 04.13.2007 09:50 AM

amazing fact, RRRon used to be U.S. Army Intelligence. I could tell you other facts but I'm not sure the statute of limitations is over. I could tell you how he used people but you're too busy worshipping your King.

PAULYBEE2656 04.13.2007 09:53 AM

i like dom fernow to be honest. i tink the most predictable noise tag should go to wolf eyes. its a rarity tha they release anything decent now. aaron dilloways solo stuff is far superior. emil has fasinated me,ve just got my hands on what appear to be a merzbow tribute to him, i havent had a chance to listen yet........

as for collective noise... white mice anyone??? im looking forward to getting my hands on the new one soon....

Everyneurotic 04.13.2007 10:17 AM

greh hive mind is fucking awesome, completely underrated if you ask me, concerning the u.s. noise thing.

wolf eyes, i think are getting too involved in their side projects and chaff it up with their dayjob; sure, they are not that great anymore, with the exception of human animal for the most part but graveyards? demons? birth refusal? dilloway solo (still spotty in my opinion)? fucking great!!! i think even dead machines are better now (i haven't listened to them after that futures borefest).

golden child 04.14.2007 02:44 AM

hive mind, yawnn. that whole detroit scene irks me. hey, marco. if you didnt notice your split with panicsville is for sale at RRR.... on my list to pick up...

Everyneurotic 04.14.2007 11:55 AM

ahh i checked rrr the other day...i didn't notice, it's also available at second layer uk. tanz procesz has good distro.

Ron Lessard has a beef with William Bennett, no doubt due to the fact that ol' Ronny boy was bootlegging Come Org stuff, and WB told him to pack it in.

whorefrost 04.14.2007 01:24 PM

William Bennet has a beef with the world.

golden child 04.14.2007 02:11 PM

william bennett is my dick

lowlife 04.14.2007 03:22 PM

Everyneurotic 04.14.2007 03:29 PM

If you mean the two records with titles something like 'Emil Beaulieau loves Merzbow' and 'Merzbow Kill Emil Beaulieau', they are collaberations. Good ones!! As raw as it gets
