Electrelane go bye-bye

And I never got to see them live

ZEROpumpkins 11.08.2007 04:40 AM

Did you get your title inspiration from the song "Merrry go Bye-Bye?

Everyneurotic 11.08.2007 10:42 AM

bummer.

what?

this is a bummer, man!!

jimbrim 11.08.2007 10:53 AM

This is really bad news! I'm so glad i saw them before they split though (this september), might of been one of their last gigs.

Rob Instigator 11.08.2007 11:05 AM

the demise of electrelane should give you similar feelings to ones you get from electrelane's music which is a slightly disconnected "meh".

Toilet & Bowels 11.08.2007 02:23 PM

i saw them live about 5 years ago, they were really shit

atsonicpark 11.08.2007 03:06 PM

didn't know anyone here liked this band.

i thought they were okay.

PAULYBEE2656 11.08.2007 03:14 PM

they had moments.. i actually dont have any albums, it is a hole in my electroclash sectiojn but they were ok. i saw them in the summer and yeah, i stayed until the end of the set... didnt blow me away but yeah, i liked them. shame, so many worse bands could have split up before them... like ladytron!

atsonicpark 11.08.2007 03:24 PM

ladytron are fucking terrible, but i remember one of those chicks being hot as fuck.

atsonicpark 11.08.2007 03:39 PM

So, in "bands breaking up news", I just got on myspace and some guy posted "BLOOD BROTHERS BROKEN UP" and I clicked on it. Apparently, the Blood Brothers broke up today, Some Girls and Holy Molar broke up a few weeks ago. All I can say is: Thank God. I hate all those fucking bands.

Lamont Cranston 11.08.2007 03:50 PM

Electrelane sound fine in the bootlegs I have (of course that isn't a first person experience), not sure what the problem was some of you had

atsonicpark 11.08.2007 04:04 PM

I don't think anyone here had a problem with them..

Rob Instigator 11.08.2007 04:15 PM

i got 4 of their 7" singles, and two of their albums. i pay good money to support bands i even only sorta like!

GravitySlips 11.08.2007 06:27 PM

wait I'm meant to be seeing them in late November!!!

sucks, but I'm not a big fan

Everyneurotic 11.08.2007 11:20 PM

yep, definitely an ok, so so band.

my previous reply was a quote.

atsonicpark 11.08.2007 11:57 PM

You know, I'd never looked at this band before...

Three of those dudes are chicks, by the way.

You lucky bastard you still can, they're completing this final tour.

fugazifan 11.09.2007 03:25 AM

damn.... i really liked them.
the power out is a fantastic album. and no shouts no calls was also aewesome.
man i really love the power out though.
i am bummed...

sarramkrop 11.09.2007 04:38 AM

They went at just about the right time. The last album was so-so and the previous one had some really good songs on it, but also a fair amount of stinkers. I really like the first two albums a lot, especially the first one.

SynthethicalY 11.09.2007 12:27 PM

I am sadden oh well. Next.

Come on, what the fuck are you talking about?! There's no way Electrelane is electroclash... They were more like Krautrock influenced post-rock, if you ask me...
Well, I own "Axes" and I think it's really a great record, lots of different atmospheres and a great use of piano, I love it. Never listened to their other records though, their last one never interested me that much (the excerpts I heard were really not that great)

nick2767 11.09.2007 02:42 PM

I saw them support shellac a few years back and quite enjoyed them. So much so that I bought Power Out. The last date on the tour is near me in Brighton. I had thought about going and I may do so now.

I think I read an interview with them in Wire and they started off in Brighton but now live all over Europe. Probably made weekly band practice a bit of a pain in the arse!!

Lamont Cranston 11.09.2007 08:22 PM

nick2767, any good at recording or filming shows?:D
