The new song sy recorded for the starbucks comp...

Spinning dreams of caffeine stings
Thurston says and slowly grins
Frappuccino in the night
So cool + so right

Starbucks starbucks starbucks
Over me
They know how to make coffee
They know how to make love

Caramel and cocoa beans
Giving me brainfreeze

Starbucks starbucks starbucks
Over me

Frappuccino in the night
Supercool it’s alright

They know how to make coffee
They know how to make love

are you kidding ? :D

SYRFox 01.16.2008 02:20 PM

Haha splendid XD that'd be so great if it was true xD

I haven't had any caffeine in 4 days. Its been that many years since I've been off the shit for so long. In fact, I don't think I've ever not used caffeine for so long.

It's an experiment. I'm trying to see if it will help calm me down some.

I'm pissed that you guys responded. That kind of behavior is just gonna keep this thread on the front page.

HAHAHHHAHAHA! MAD repped

atsonicpark 01.16.2008 10:31 PM

I already did a little song like this on a "World looks red live at urban outfitters" thread. I think mine's damn good as a parody, but yours is an original piece right? I really dig it. Funny shit. Love the "supercool" part -- total Thurston sass.

Noisereduction, if you're kidding, ha ha. If you're being serious, fuck you.

Repped.

Okay, for the sake of a comprehensive "starbucks sonic youth song" post, I'll repost that post...

http://www.sonicyouth.com/gossip/sho...ban+outfitters
That's really odd, when I watched this I >did< notice rather grotesque lyrics.. I couldn't completely make them out over the screaming Urban Outfitters crowd, but it was something to the effect of:

Put it in my pocket - World looks green
I've got dollar signs - In my eyes

Ride in my Cadilac - Drinkin the Starbucks
Selling no wave pop - To the mainstream
Kicking out Jim O'Rourke - For being too ugly

An ocean of idiotic - Sonic Youth fans
Buying our albums - Seeing us live
Even after we play for - their hipster little sisters - at Urban Outfitters

Crazy. Sonic Geezers still got a bit of sass, I guess!

Also, I find it funny that Pitchfork said "the frequently overlooked Rather Ripped". Just sayin'.

it's starpower redux, you memento guy!

atsonicpark 01.17.2008 12:37 PM

Oh fuck. Duh!

koolthing78 01.17.2008 08:39 PM

I'm glad I wasn't the only only one who didn't catch that at first. Strangely, I just finished listening to "Starpower" on my way back from the gym, and reread the post just now. "Oh fuck. Duh!" x2

Overlooked by who?

I thought it was great myself.

That's so bloody awesome. Does Lee imitate the sound of a frappuccino blender with his guitar at any point?

wink
