Rumsfeld - Resignation?

OK, it's probably just wishful thinking, but check it out, it's all over the news, on TV and whatnot:

The generals demanding his resignation:

he should resign, he should never been in a position of pwer in the first place.

i am not sure if he will but it is possible as so many problems have arrisen from this man being in charge of 'defence'.

If I'm not mistaken Rumsfelfd offered to resign around election time '04 and Bush refused it. I wouldn't hold my breath if your hoping for a new Secretary of War.

I'm not holding my breath, actually I'm just indulging in some wishful thinking. (see above)

Nice pic there. Nice reminder that Rummy and Cheney have been around since before I as born. Working in the white house since before I was born....

Here is a link to yesterday's Fresh Air:

"Fresh Air from WHYY, April 13, 2006 · On Aug. 9, 1974, Richard M. Nixon's resignation as president of the United States became official, and Vice President Gerald Ford took office.
"I am acutely aware that you have not elected me as your president by your ballots," he said in his swearing-in speech on that day. "And so I ask you to confirm me as your president with your prayers."
The period following that day, up until Ford's pardoning of Nixon, is the focus of Barry Werth's 31 Days. Werth delivers a blow-by-blow account of the transition, including the roles of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld (then ambassador to NATO) and Vice President Dick Cheney, who was Rumsfeld's deputy at the time."

Rumsfeld will never be fired. Only the entire world wants him fired, but Bush won't fire Rummy out of spite and arrogance alone..nevermind the political implications that it would have on bush's job. I really wish we could get rid of all these clowns in the WH and republican controlled congress.

krastian 04.14.2006 01:51 PM

I saw that, but I doubt it will happen. Especially with all the rumblings in the Pentagon about attacking Iran.

Soundtrax 04.14.2006 01:57 PM

he sould not resign, he should just die :D

ricechex 04.14.2006 04:13 PM

President Bush has released a statement of support today: “Secretary Rumsfeld’s energetic and steady leadership is exactly what is needed at this critical period. He has my full support and deepest appreciation.”

see..hee

yeah, you know for republicans it has always been more important to be energetic and having steady leadership than to be effective. as long as you believe in your actions rather than doing it well, you can be a successful republican... believing is most important in republican world... even if every of your actions fail.

Now there's a new salon.com article thats getting picked up by everyone stating that.......

Report says Rumsfeld allowed Guantanamo abuse
Reuters - Fri Apr 14, 6:17 PM ET
WASHINGTON - U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld allowed an "abusive and degrading" interrogation of an al Qaeda detainee in 2002, the online magazine Salon reported on Friday, citing an Army document. In a report a Pentagon spokesman denounced as "fiction," Salon quoted a December 2005 Army inspector general's report in which officers told of Rumsfeld's direct contact with the general overseeing the interrogation at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
