Of course I agree with you, his language is beyond the pale and if normality were to prevail, this hysterical, emotionally-driven clown would've been removed from office a long time ago.

I believe the overton window of what's acceptable has shifted so far that a US President (or Trump, at least) can now say things like that without any real repercussions, unfortunately. I don't know how you fight that - of course it needs highlighting, and perhaps the Democrats need to move towards the centre ground to win over people like Demonrail who may not necessary be part of Trump's "legion".

Fascist. Communist. Socialist. Racist. These are just a few of the things President Obama has been called by conservatives since he took office in 2008. It's curious how he survived eight years of this, and history isn't going to forget it.

sure, but it’s not really about “language”, or “saying” things.

it’s really about legitimizing and mobilizing and amplifying horrendous social forces that are not easy to cage back once unleashed.

I agree this video is a great preview for 2020. A preview of why Trump is going to get re-elected...

The video shows perfectly how hypocritical bullshit and overly-hyperbolic rhetoric loses elections. It's all about the pendulum shift of perspective. Replace the talk of Obama being a Muslim sympathizer with Trump and Russian collusion, and you totally have a video displaying modern-day Democratic sentiment being voiced loudly. Sentiment that is going to push that pendulum further to the right. So many voters truly looking for a home just want to live on the side of the fence that the bullshit stinks the less.

I know I am going to get horribly attacked for this opinion as well, but I think modern-day victimhood acceptance falls perfectly into your statement as well as your intended point. Both ideals being discussed do.

(i think he's to the left of me, as i recall)

what people label as "centrist" tends to vary wildly. i was going to ask him what he meant by centrist but forgot.

Morally suspect is putting it nicely there. Which if his policies do you find more credible than any of the running Dems? His trickle down economics? Something which has been shown time and time again to not work. His obsession with building a wall and using funds that could be much better spent elsewhere? His foreign policy which involves cosying up to blatant dictators and then taking to Twitter to shit on close allies?

I'm actually baffled as to what yes done that makes you think he's the lesser of two evils.

You might point out about how well the economy is doing. Which ok, it's doing well. However, you can't ignore that it's also a global trend of low unemployment and something that's special to the U.S.

I'ld trust him with the economy and national security more than I would the Dems right now.

/me skims the thread and resumes praying for a huge asteroid to finally actually show up

Rob Instigator 07.16.2019 01:19 PM

indeed.

The people who are controlling Preznit Trump are making billions off of what should be our collective tax revenue, used for collective good, and instead is going to super rich multi-national corporations that do not give a flying fuck about USA, or "America."

The immigration red herring is working extremely well. racists love to fear brown people, especially when they speak 2, 3 or 4 languages as opposed to ignorant gringos and their "english."

100 years ago the exact same thing was happening but it was the Irish and Italians and Greeks and Slavs that were immigrating to US and not considered white by the anglo cracker overlords...(Trump's grandpa was one of these immigrants stealing american jobs.)

Where are the Pro-Lifers and their indignation? Women in ICE custody ignored when having miscarriages. https://thehill.com/blogs/blog-brief...e-medical-care

Is Joe Biden The Mitt Romney Of 2020?

So Joe calls Mitt a racist back in the day......and a few weeks ago Kamala Harris calls Joe Biden a racist......is racist the Democrats goto move?

Speaking of calling someone racist:

On Tuesday morning, Trump tweeted that the four congresswomen "have been spewing some of the most vile, hateful, and disgusting things ever said by a politician in the House or Senate" and asked why the House wasn't "voting to rebuke the filthy and hate laced things they have said?"

Bytor Peltor 07.16.2019 02:32 PM

Why would Obama via Executive Order have the Detention Centers with cages built, but not provide funding for the detainees care?

Obama deported far more Illegal Immigrants than President Trump has, but I doubt I’ll find any post here at SYG complaining about that.

And where is Oprah and her million dollar celebrity friends? You know, the ones she would gather together when they were beating the campaign trail to get Hillary elected? Why isn’t John Travolta flying them with a ton of supplies down to the detention centers......why?

Rob Instigator 07.16.2019 02:43 PM

The discussion is not about deporting undocumented immigrants, but of shoving people seeking asylum into concentration camps. Two wholly separate groups of people.

Oprah bought in years ago. she stands to lose just as much as Trump's "friends". Charles Barkley said he was a Democrat until he became a millionaire, at which point he became a Republican because as he put it, all that mattered to him was the money, and keeping it from the government in taxes.

Travolta is a Scientologist and controlled by Muscavinge, who is right in there with trump's racist ass fucks. Scientologist are racist as fuck too.

The detention Centers were actually created under Clinton, not Obama, and Clinton goes to the same pedophile procurers as Trump....

Political parties are NOT the ones that control our economy or our security. That is handled by other organizations. The leading party can only guide policy in these matters. Currently, our country is being sold out from under our noses. You like that shit?

(I agree with what this person has said, in this one specifically quoted segment, and stand by it. I think it is well put. This does not mean I am looking to align myself whole-heartedly with this person and their belief system completely, but with this specific statement.)

Absolute fair-play, my friend. That was a pretty poorly thought out preface leading into that comment I made, eh? Touché :)

I genuinely respect you as a poster here and have often enjoyed your insights to things. But if you truly saw that as some sort of attack on you, then so be it. It was not personal by any means.
