i'm taking the SAT tomorrow

and i almost completely forgot about it. i haven't done any studying and i need to do well to get into state college (because my GPA is pretty low). this is the second time i've taken it (i got a 1750 out of 2400; i need to get at least 2000 to even get considered for admission to UI with my GPA). i have to drive over to Washington at 6:30 to take the test (it's about 35 miles).

and i'm taking the ACT next Saturday.

Being English I have no idea what all those initials mean, but I can tell it's to do with education, so good luck.

I think what you meant to say was, "Being old I have no idea what all those initials mean..."

Trasher02 10.14.2006 03:36 AM

Good luck, I hope you'll make it youthoftomorrow...
God I hate those tests.

Good luck. I'm a sophomore, so I could take the SAT, but I think I'm gonna do the PSAT next week and then the SAT the next time after that.

If you haven't already left:

Remember to leave questions blank, and the essay portion is really about length and structure. What you write isn't that important, just make sure it is two pages, and that it is in the proper 5 paragraph form.

I left secondary school in 1998 (possibly '99, I forget). We did SATs then. I did quite well. It might mean something different on the other side of the pond. Anyway, in conclusion, good luck, or well done or whatever is an appropriate response to whatever it was that this thread was about.

I like taking these tests to see how I do on them. It isn't like they are fun or anything, but it helps me evaluate myself. (Also I usually do really well).

so, i just got back. i think i did pretty well. my essay was about ten times better than the one i did last time. i realized that i didn't leave any blanks on the test last time; i guessed on every question i didn't know. i imagine that this may have something to do with the score i got last time.

for the benefit of those not familiar with the American education system:

SAT = Scholastic Aptitude Test
GPA = grade point average
ACT = i don't know what the acronym means, but it's another test, comparable to the SAT.

the scores we get on these tests help colleges decide who to admit, so they're a pretty big deal.

I never took them, but might have most colleges need them when transfering.

schizophrenicroom 10.14.2006 09:45 PM

best of luck, youthoftomorrow. and yeah, leave some blank. you can get a perfect score even if you leave some blank.

golden child 10.14.2006 10:00 PM

i need to take mine this year too.
