CD vs Vinyl

Which one????

Everyneurotic 05.30.2007 04:42 PM

cds and vinyl.

Washing Machine 05.30.2007 04:44 PM

I love vinyls if only for the fact they look much better. So I voted Vinyl. There are however some albums that sound better on CD. Radiohead albums are a good example.

val-holla-ing 05.30.2007 04:50 PM

vinyl. it smells better and doesn't biodegrade.

Bicorn Halfelven 05.30.2007 04:55 PM

I have to say that I enjoy the ephemeral value of having something large to hold in my hands, and bigger pictures to look at...

...and yeah, vinyl sounds nice, so I did vote for vinyl... but sometimes you're just too lazy/stoned to get off the couch and flip the record over.

terminal pharmacy 05.30.2007 05:05 PM

they both have their place in my collecton and i listen to both for different reasons so no vote for me

!@#$%! 05.30.2007 05:09 PM

no contest for me. vinyl = a love supreme.

besides, you can easily digitize records & make "cds" to carry around.

i only buy cd when there's no other choice.

fishmonkey 05.30.2007 05:17 PM

i like vinyl and all, i mean, i have got some really rare Nirvana and White Stripes vinyl but when it comes down to it the format i purchase more is CD.

Washing Machine 05.30.2007 05:22 PM

Vinyl is kicking arse!!!

You pompous indie wankers...I love you!:D

SynthethicalY 05.30.2007 05:25 PM

I voted Cd's mostly because it is easier to discard when not needed. Although I do have a a small vynil collection.

Everyneurotic 05.30.2007 05:26 PM

tapes

sarramkrop 05.30.2007 05:27 PM

Good music wins over the two formats. In the end, it doesn't bother me whichever way it's packaged, for as long as it's good. I know, the obvious was stated, but probably it is because the obvious wins the argument. If you don't want me to state the obvious, go and make good 'vinyl' music.

same here, but i tend to just rip my cd's and put them in the stack with the rest. with vinyl, though, there's no ripping. it's always an experience to dust of the record and actively listen and focus on the music rather than just have it on (which i can be guilty of at times).

Good answer.

I'm neither way. I appreciate both a great deal. It comes down to what band, what type of music, and of course accessibility when buying vinyl. Some things I invision being more pure on vinyl, then others I think sonically need to be on compact disc. I make my decision this way really.

LittlePuppetBoy 05.30.2007 08:40 PM

Cd. But I do listen to vinyl. But then again I don't really care, as long as it's audible.

Everything derives from the LP. 8-tracks, cassettes, CDs, Mp3s--they are all derivatives of the LP format. LPs rule.
