I am against the idea of this in so many ways.
But now I kinda want to see the fucking thing.

But the REAL point behind the joker is that there is no origin story, goddammit. He’s elemental. Old as time. Every origin story in the comics in non-canon, so this is basically fan fiction.

(See above for more reasons why Ledger nailed it eternally, if u need them which I shouldn’t)

Anyone here familiar with Sergio Martino? I've particularly heard great things about "Torso"

I also watched "Let the Corpses Tan":

It's by the same French couple that directed Amer (2009) and The Strange Colour of Your Body's Tears (2013). Don't go into it expecting the most compelling story... It's basically a 92 minute shootout, but it's so beautifully composed and edited that I think it warrants a recommendation. I got strong Leone/Fulci vibes while watching it, but it transcends being merely an homage imo

Bloody hell. Didn't know about this one. Going straight on the must-see list.

Dragged Across Concrete. new caper movie by Zahler.....B-

not as bad as I thought it would be, but.....

After Bone Tomahawk and Riot in Cell Block 99, whattya got? Smell Gibson, oh no....

WillieMcKelvey 04.06.2019 07:13 PM

It was Avengers. And I am waiting for the last part of this great movie!

Wait, you mean you haven’t finished Avengers yet?

Or... do you mean you’re waiting for Avengers: Endgame?

If it’s the former, they get better. Each one’s better than the last. Don’t believe the Age of Ultron haters. They dumb.

If it’s the latter... ME TOO!

Severian 04.06.2019 08:17 PM

I’m watching Aquaman. Goddammit.

Joker looks like Taxi Driver

_tunic_ 04.07.2019 01:57 AM

good movie, that takes place in Brussels, it's sort of a modern Romeo And Julliet. These two young Belgian directors are scheduled to do the new Beverly Hills Cop :)

LifeDistortion 04.07.2019 02:10 AM

@Dr. Eugene Felikson Its good. Not Burton's best, not his worst, some might say his last good movie he's directed. This was actually my first watch of it, and I had never seen the musical performed.

It’s pretty but insufferably stupid.

My emotions have nothing to do with how I feel about it.

Feels like a toy movie. And the music itself is creepy in ways people never seem to bring up... like that song about stalking.

Full bore high culture today ...

Halloween II

Rob Zombie's best film so far. The dream sequences are where he really comes into his own.

Sorority Babes at the Slimeball Bowl-o-Rama

It is what it is. Either you love this kind of stuff (I do) or you can't be arsed to even care. But anyone who gets excited by the mere mention of scream-queen royalty like Linnea Quigley, Michelle Bauer and the late great Robin Stille will know exactly what to expect here, and won't be disappointed, Not to mention the soundtrack, which is pure synthwave heaven.

hahaha speaking of full bore high culture

LOGAN’S RUN

i had heard of this all my life and finally saw it hahaha

nonsense plot and cheesy effects and terrible dialogue but overall somehow entertaining plus some fleeting tits

Yeah it's silly but I love the vibe of it. Totally of its time but a million times more enjoyable than most of today's sci fi. Love it.

You preferred Zombie’s Halloween II to his Halloween?

Uhh. Whaaaa? Really?

First one was actually a really good horror movie. Second one lost me.

Severian 04.07.2019 07:43 PM

Oh my god it was so fuckin’ dumb.

But it seemed OK with that, so that made it a little better to just watch and have fun. Not a lot of fun, but some.

Really bad, though. Get this: Dolph Lungren has a major speaking part (!!!) They obviously wanted to go big and go dumb and then go home.

Some cool action stuff, but nothing new. It was Black Panther underwater minus any relevant social commentary.

Good god it was just a massive explosion of dumbassery
